Monetary Support Needed for the Blue Springs Community Center

The Blue Springs Community Center is currently in the process of being updated. Updates include improved wiring, lighting, plumbing, flooring, painting, blinds, and other cosmetic improvements. Additional updates are also planned, but your monetary support is needed to make them possible.
If you would like to make a monetary donation for improvements to the Blue Springs Community Center, please contact Reed Miller by calling (615) 215-7938 or mail your donation to 414 South College Street, Smithville, TN 37166. Any monetary donation amounts are appreciated and needed in order to continue making improvements to the community center.

Permits Required during Fire Season

Tennessee Division of Forestry

Tennessee’s fire season began October 15th and the Tennessee Division of Forestry wants to remind everyone that they must obtain a burning permit before doing any open burning. Only brush, leaves, grass, untreated or unpainted lumber or other natural plant residues can be legally burned. Burning permits can be obtained from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday by calling the DeKalb County office of the Division of Forestry at 597-4015. Burning permits can be obtained for small debris piles after hours and on the weekends by visiting Think before you burn.

L.B.J. & C. Head Start is currently accepting applications to provide free comprehensive child development services to children 3-5 years of age from low-income families in a full-day program. Services are also offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. L.B.J. & C. Head Start helps all children succeed.

L.B.J. & C. Head Start provides children with activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. The L.B.J. & C. Head Start recognizes that, as parents, you are the first and most important teachers of your children. They will welcome your involvement in L.B.J. & C. Head Start activities and will work as partners with you to help your child and family progress. Children who attend L.B.J. & C. Head Start participates in a variety of educational activities, receive free medical and dental care, free healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe environment.
