Wildflowers of the Highland Rim- Spring wildflowers are emerging from their dormancy. Come out and discover which wildflowers are emerging from winter's icy grip! Please wear sturdy boots, and don't forget your camera. This is a moderate 2 mile hike. Meet us at the Park Office at 2:00 p.m.

Spring Hike on the Highland Rim- Join the Park Ranger for a hike on the Highland Rim Nature Trail to discover which wildflowers are blooming along the hillsides of the park. This is a moderate two mile trail, so be sure to wear sturdy shoes. Don't forget to bring a camera! Meet at the Park Office at 9:00 a.m.

Spring Hike on the Millennium Trail- Join the Park Ranger for a hike on the Millennium Trail to discover the joys of Spring! This is a two-and-a-half mile moderate trail, so please wear a sturdy pair of boots/shoes. Don't forget your camera! Meet at the Millennium Trail Parking Area at 2:00 p.m.

Birds, Blooms, and Butterflies Hike- Join the Park Ranger for a walk in the woods along the beautiful Millennium Trail. We will discover which flowers and butterflies are emerging, and identify birds and other wildlife along the way. Meet at the Millennium Trail Parking area at 2:00 p.m.. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Don't forget your camera. Approximately 2.5 miles. This is a moderate hike.

Justin Potter Library’s Book Sale will start on February 23rd and will continue through Saturday, March 24th. There will be books, audio books, videos and magazines for sale at great prices. The library is accepting donations of books and movies that are in good condition for the book sale. We request no textbooks, magazines or encyclopedias, please. A support group meeting will be held for relatives that are caring for relative children. This meeting will be held at the Fiddlers Annex, 125 Fiddler Drive, Smithville, TN 37166, Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 1:00 – 2:00pm.

Free Classes Available to Those Seeking High School Equivalency Diploma

If you never completed high school and would like to obtain an equivalency diploma you have that opportunity.

Free High School Equivalency (Hi-Set) Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the County Complex at 722 South Congress Boulevard. Enter through the UT Extension/Motlow College Corridor, Room 119. Mary Anne Carpenter is the class instructor. On-line classes are also available.

Student registration is conducted on Mondays, beginning at 3:30 pm and then again on Tuesdays starting at 8:30 am – 12:00pm. The Toll Free phone number is: 855-516-0160.

L.B.J. & C. Head Start is currently accepting applications to provide free comprehensive child development services to children 3-5 years of age from low-income families in a full-day program. Services are also offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. L.B.J. & C. Head Start helps all children succeed.

L.B.J. & C. Head Start provides children with activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. The L.B.J. & C. Head Start recognizes that, as parents, you are the first and most important teachers of your children. They will welcome your involvement in L.B.J. & C. Head Start activities and will work as partners with you to help your child and family progress. Children who attend L.B.J. & C. Head Start participates in a variety of educational activities, receive free medical and dental care, free healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe environment.

L.B.J. & C. Head Start staff members will offer your child love, acceptance, understanding, and the opportunity to learn and to experience success.
