The Smithville Rotary is having their annual Fish Fry on September 13th @5 P.M. at Greenbrook Park. Each ticket purchased gets you dinner for your immediate family and is entered into a drawing for one of our many donated prizes plus two cash grand prizes. The DeKalb Youth Soccer Fundraiser will be Saturday, August 30 at the DeKalb County Complex starting with a Karaoke Contest from noon until 4:00 p.m. for ages 5-12, 13-17, and 18 and older. The entry fee for the age groups is $5.00 for ages 5-12, $8.00 ages 13-17, and $15 for ages 18 and older. A silent auction will be from noon until 7:00 p.m. The fundraiser also includes a cake walk and a chili and spaghetti supper from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.00 per person. Enjoy your choice of chili, crackers, dessert, and drink or spaghetti, roll, dessert, and drink.

All proceeds to benefit the kids of the DeKalb Youth Soccer League, Field Improvement Project
The Leadership DeKalb Class of 2014 is in need of donations for their community service project “Tools for Students.” This project will assist DeKalb County teachers with supplies they need for physical education, music and art classes. Donations needed include gently used or new sports equipment such as balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops (any type), art supplies (such as paint, paintbrushes, pastels, charcoal, pencils), and musical instruments (used or new). Monetary donations will also be accepted.
Every child in DeKalb County who participates in any physical education, art, or music class will benefit from these donations. Drop off locations include DeKalb Community Hospital (contact Kim Frazier at 215-5000); UT Extension (contact April Martin at 597-4945) or DeKalb Tire and Service (contact Eli Gill at 597-9400).
Due to the extreme heat the annual Tramel Reunion will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 12:30 p.m. in the community room in the City Hall Building on the east side of the square in Smithville, where Senior Citizens previously met! Call 529-2570 for more information.
