Report Card Day at the Smithville Municipal Swimming Pool will be Friday, June 3rd. Students bring your report card and swim free that day.
The DeKalb County Fire Department Liberty Station-Engine #65 will have a fundraiser June 4 from 4:00 p.m. until? at DeKalb West School. Enjoy all you can eat fish & chicken dinner and Gumbo.

To anyone who has relatives buried in the Jones Cemetery near Silver Point -- there is a DESPERATE need of funds for mowing and maintenance.

UCHRA would like to invite anyone 55 years or older who meets the eligibility guidelines to be a part of the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). This program provides on-the-job training for older individuals seeking gainful employment in the Upper Cumberland region. This training is twenty hours per week at the current minimum wage with government and non-profit agencies. They provide assessment and testing services to determine your present skill level and for the types of occupations you would like to train. They conduct workshops to teach you the best methods for finding, applying, interviewing, getting, and keeping the right job. They can also refer you to the Tennessee Career Center for basic computer training as well as other employment and training programs. If you like to play Rook and are age 60 or over and enjoy spending time with great people, grab a partner and join them at the DeKalb/Smithville Senior Center located at 718 South Congress Boulevard, Smithville between the County Complex and the UT Extension Agency. They play on Wednesday afternoons from 1-4 p.m.
The DeKalb County Community Advisory Board (CAB) and the DeKalb County Prevention Coalition meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at 12:00pm. They are held in the basement of the DeKalb County Courthouse. The next meeting will be May 31, 2016 @ 12:00pm. If you have an interest in your community and would like to hear more about these organizations and their initiatives, please join us! All are welcome to attend.
Ongoing Registration for a FREE High School Equivalency Class Orientation is being held at the new county building at 722 South Congress Boulevard, Smithville.. Enter through the UT Extension/ Motlow College doors. Adult education staff will be available to assist new students in registering and testing weekly as follows:
Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
