Paislee's Foundation's 3rd annual 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run will be Saturday, May 7 at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds in Alexandria. Registration will be from 6:00 a.m. until 6:45 a.m. The race begins at 7:00 a.m. Early Registration is $25 (includes free T-shirt). After April 29 the registration fee is $30 (free T-shirt, while supplies last). KIDS 1 Mile Fun Run registration is $10. All proceeds will go to help fund Paislee's Foundation. A non-profit organization to benefit families dealing with stillbirth and infant loss. Become a sponsor. Tennessee’s fire season begins October 15th and the Tennessee Division of Forestry wants to remind everyone that they must obtain a burning permit before doing any open burning. This allows homeowners to legally burn plant residues grown on the property (such as brush, leaves, and grass) as well as untreated or unpainted lumber. Burning permits can be obtained from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday by calling the DeKalb County office of the Division of Forestry at 615-765-7373. In Smithville phone 615-215-3000. Burning permits can be obtained after hours and on weekends by visiting www.burnsafetn.org. Think before you burn.
