52 year old Jena Matthews Hesson of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a housewife. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Robert Page and Richard Franklin will officiate and burial will be in the Cannady Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hesson, Sr.; her parents, William Junior Matthews and Betty Frances Davis Murphy; a daughter, Martha Sue Caldwell; grandchildren, Bobby Eric, Glendon Derrick, and Christian Hesson,and Jena Coronado; and sisters, Martha Todd and Patricia Ann Shoemake. Survivors include three children, April and her husband Martin Coronado, James Hesson, and David, Jr. and his wife Kathey Hesson all of Smithville. Brothers, James, Willie, William, and Roy Matthews, Randall Neal, and Doug and Terry Murphy all of Smithville. Sisters, Brenda Taylor, Helen Ervin, and Kathy Murphy of Smithville, and Pamela Hooten of South Carolina. The family has requested that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Helen Ofallon Malone

83 year old Helen Ofallon Malone of Alexandria, a garment factory worker, died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a DeKalb County native and a Baptist. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Belvie Herman Hale; her husband, Hubert Bratten Malone; a son, Dwight Malone; a sister, Morene Scott; and brothers, James Hale and Kenneth Hale. Survivors include a grandson Bradley Malone, brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Scott of Cottontown, Inez Anderson, Willette Hale, Jack and his wife Aundra Hale, and Betty and her husband Charles Clayborn all of Alexandria. A sister-in-law, Frances Scott of Whitehouse and several nieces and nephews. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Mayes Woodlee

92 year old Edna Mayes Woodlee of McMinnville died Saturday at the Raintree Manor. She was a retired cafeteria manager at Warren County Senior High School and a member of the West Riverside Church of Christ. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Vernon Joines and Tim Woodward will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. "Bob" Woodlee; her parents, Oscar and Mary Pearson Mayes; a brother, George Mayes; and sisters, Lucille Blankenship, Carrie Blanks, Frances Bell, and Charlene Smith. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Earl Blair of Smithville and Gail Woodlee of McMinnville. Two brothers, Howard and his wife Joice Mayes and J.W. "Willie" and his wife Bobbie Mayes all of McMinnville. A sister, Betty Walker of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews also survive. Two brothers-in-law, Jesse J. Woodlee of Muncie, Indiana and Jewel Woodlee of McMinnville. High Funeral Home in McMinnvile is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity or to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.

89 year old Mary Charles Pistole of Murfreesboro and formerly of Liberty died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare of Murfreesboro. She was born in Liberty and she was a teacher and a member of Salem Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Don Mathis will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Lee and Intha Sissom Pistole; two brothers, Vesper and his wife Eva Pistole and Jimmy Pistole. Survivors include a brother, Alfred and his wife Virginia Pistole of Murfreesboro. Nephews, Al and his wife Caroline Pistole of Franklin and Jerry and his wife Judith Pistole of Cookeville. A niece, Patsy and her husband Tom Harris of Murfreesboro. Great nephews, Jerry Franklin and his wife Jane Pistole of Franklin, Jarrett and his wife Crystal Pistole of Liberty, John Pistole of Cookeville, Warren Pistole of Franklin, and Colt Harris of Murfreesboro. Great nieces, Rachael and her husband Chris Rainwater of Murfreesboro, and Elizabeth Graham Pistole and Natalie Pistole both of Franklin. 86 year old Sherry Ann Galten of Smithville died Wednesday afternoon at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Catholic and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. A memorial service will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Don Davidson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:30 p.m. Galten was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Frank Galten and her parents. Survivors include a son, Lawrence Galten of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Malia and Alan Galten of Arizona. Two great grandchildren, Sarai and Cy. A half-brother, Stanley Pojanowski of Minnesota and a nephew, Jim Pojanowski of Clarksville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. 70 year old Jack Gaston Rhody of Smithville died Monday. He was a retired Machinist. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Terry Little and Craig Mahler will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L "Bob" and Lillie Mai Waller Rhody; a son, Jim Rhody; and a brother, Billy Rhody. Survivors include his wife, Nina Rhody of Smithville. Sons, Jack and his wife Pam Rhody of Smithville, Kevin and his wife Amy Rhody of Smithville, Danny Rhody of Smithville, and a daughter, Kathy Rhody of Smithville. Step-children, Gary and his wife Renee Johnson of Smithville and Angel and her husband Randall Mahler of Sparta. Grandchildren, Weston and Courtney Rhody, Alex and Rachel Rhody, and Whitley Rhody. Step-grandchildren, Craig Allen Mahler and Cathleen and her husband J.D. Humphrey. A great grandchild, Sydney Popovic. A step-great-grandson Jaxon Humphrey. 69 year old (J.W.) Jim William Hale of Woodbury died Sunday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was born in Bedford County. Hale was also a mechanic, a farmer, and a member of the Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Freddy Curtis and Al Bugg, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Emmer Lawson Hale; a daughter, Lisa Darlene Hale; a grandson, Brenton Clay Hale; and a sister, Veonna Hale Byford. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joyce Brown Hale of Woodbury. Two daughters, Pamela and her husband Mike Horne of Oklahoma and Gail and her husband Mark Jones of Woodbury. A son, Tommy and his wife Mary Hale of Woodbury. Grandchildren, Scott and April Horne of Oklahoma, Jacob and Justin Horne of Woodbury, Jay Hale of Woodbury, Cassandra and Nick Morris of Oklahoma, Megan Hale of Woodbury, and Gabriell Jones of Woodbury. 36 year old Michael P. Higham, Sr. of Smyrna, Delaware died Tuesday. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Higham was a pipe fitter for Delcard Associates in Wilmington for three years and previously worked for WSMW for 10 years. The funeral will be Monday at noon at the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home in Milford, Delaware. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in the Milford Community Cemetery in Milford, Delaware. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney M. Higham, Jr. and his step-father, Ronnie Vickers. He is survived by a son, Michael Paul Higham, Jr. of Smyrna; his mother, Katherine Myers Vickers of Milford; his father and step-mother, Rod and Janice Higham of Smithville. His maternal grandfather, Edward A. Myers of Wilmington. His sister-in-law, Marlene Higham of Ellendale; his wife, Roxanne Higham of Middletown, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 80 year old Landon C. Arnold of McMinnville died Friday at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He was a retired nurseryman with Haley Nursery, a member of the Church of Christ, and an Elder at the Oak Grove Church of Christ. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jonathan Stubblefield will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Nora Ferrell Arnold; two brothers, Brown and Warren Arnold; and a sister, Ruth Hendrix. Survivors include his wife, Lera Walker Arnold of McMinnville. Three daughters, Cathy Mansell of Morrison, Janice and her husband Paul Ward of Smithville, and Hope and her husband Chip Knight of McMinnville. One son, Martin Arnold of McMinnville. 28 year old Cory Lynn Judkins of McMinnville died suddenly Thursday at his residence. He was a Rutherford County native, and a sales clerk for Sears. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Madison Street Baptist Church, where he was a member. Jackie Matheny, Bobby Southard, and Alton Scruggs will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at High Funeral Home in McMinnville and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Christine Smith and his paternal grandfather, Nelson Judkins. He is survived by a daughter, Abigail Judkins of McMinnville. His parents, Larry and Phyllis Judkins of McMinnville. A brother and sister-in-law, John Kelly and Jaime Judkins of McMinnville. Nieces, Ashlyn and Adison Judkins of McMinnville.
