Martha Linder Caldwell

68 year old Martha Linder Caldwell of Smithvlle died Monday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was a Baptist and was retired from Kingston Timer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Classie James and Flossie Bain Linder; a son, James Clinton Gregory; and a brother, J.C. Linder. Survivors include her husband, Hoyte Caldwell of Smithville. A daughter, Brenda and her husband Authur Aguilera of Indiana. Sons, Randy and his wife Debbbie Gregory of Westmoreland and Daniel Caldwell of New Jersey. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Nine brothers, Joe Linder of Indiana, Carl and his wife Margaret Linder of Alexandria, Virginia; Bill and his wife Ruth, Johnny Buford, and Bobby and his wife Peggy Linder all of Smithville; Norman and his wife Gennie Linder of Lafayette; Wayne and his wife Vicky Linder of Hartsville; Jackie Linder of Gallatin; and Larry and his wife Jean Linder of Rock Island. Two sisters, Ruby Gerard and Helen and her husband Rudy Holler. Several nieces, nephews, and special sister-in-law, Carolyn Caldwell of Smithville. Frank Jennings Cope

92 year old Frank Jennings Cope of Smithville died Friday night of an extended illness at his residence. He was a member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a retired Landscape Engineer, and a member of the American Legion and VFW. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene; and a sister, Ruth. He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Cope of Smithville. Three children, Marsha Fleer, Patricia Landrum, and Richard Cope. Three step-children, Barbara Gohs, and William and James Sanders. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step-grandchildren along with three sisters, Ophalene Cantrell, Nell Cantrell, and Sarah Cope. 86 year old Susie Mai Miller of Bradyville died Friday at Stones River Hospital of Woodbury. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Timothy Pelham and Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will be in the Hale Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emily O'Conner Hale; her husband, Fred Miller; three brothers, Cappy, Delbert, and Willie Hale; and two sisters, Elmer Hobbs and Dovie Ferrell. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Joe H. Sissom of Bradyville. One son, Jackie Miller of Woodbury. Three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One sister-in-law, Juanita Hale of Liberty and several nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert (Bob) Campbell

73 year old Robert (Bob) Campbell of Gassaway died Thursday at NHC Health Care Center of Murfreesboro of an extended illness. He was a Cannon County native, a member of the Clear Fork Methodist Church, a Mason of DeKalb Lodge #358, and he was a retired steam fitter and plumber. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Steve Kelly and James McDonald will officiate and burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 9:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Jessie Melton Campbell and a sister, Clara Hawkins. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jerris Hines Campbell of Gassaway. Four children, Robin Gunter, Mike and his wife Sharon Campbell, Jill Ellis, and Mark Campbell all of Gassaway and a sister, Kate Woods of Grants, New Mexico. Seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one great granddaughter also survive. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

66 year old Nina Reeder Phillips of Smithville died Wednesday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Royce Martin and Josh Phillips will officiate and burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vada Irene Reeder. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, William "Bill" Phillips of Smithville. Two sons, Randall and his wife Amelia Phillips and Marty and his wife Teresa Phillips all of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Josh Phillips of Nashville and Heath Phillips of Smithville. Four sisters-in-law, Norma Gunter, Mary Cantrell, and Jane Eller all of Smithville, and Faye Walker of McMinnville. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins survive along with two special friends, Joel Dawes and Joyce Robinson. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or to Lazarus House Hospice.

87 year old Hilda Ray Patrick of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church, and the American Legion and Woodsmen of the World. She also supported her husband's military career all over the world for 30 years. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on September 11th at 9:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Aaron and Lillie Adcock Odom; two sisters, Ova Mai Vaughn and Dean Ceiszko; two brothers, Gentry and Elgard Odom and a daughter-in-law, Caryn Patrick. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Robert "Bill" Patrick of Smithville. A son, Richard Patrick of Texas. A granddaughter, Robin and Brian Patrick of Texas. Two sisters, Nona Dell Wheeler of Florida and Jean and Edwin Andereck of Cookeville. Three sisters-in-law, Dorthy Odom of Smithville, Margaret Ellen Thieme and Grace Louise Patrick both of California. One brother-in-law, Michael Allen Patrick of Arkansas. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that all donations please be made to the Smithville First United Methodist Church Building Fund, in lieu of flowers.

87 year old Luther W. Cantrell of Smithville died Tuesday morning at DeKalb Community Hospital of an extended illness. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of the VFW and International Union Operators of Engineers Local 197, and he was retired from TVA and a retired night watchman for the City of Smithville. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Emma Sullens Cantrell; brothers, James Nathan "Goodle" Cantrell, Bethel Magness "Doc" Cantrell, and John Clifford "Sy" Cantrell; and sisters, Rachel and Thelma Cantrell. Survivors include his wife, Helen Fay Cantrell of Smithville; 2 sons, Wesley Cantrell of Murfreesboro; Bradley Cantrell of Miami, Florida; 1 grandson, Chad Cantrell and 1 great grandson. Two sisters-in-law, Freda and Frances Cantrell of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. 71 year old Bertha Rose McCullough of Alexandria died Saturday at the home of her daughter in Lebanon. She was a DeKalb County native and was retired from Wynns Precision where she worked for 28 years. She was also a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in the Flatwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William Garrison and Nannie Clara Watson Garrison; her husband, Ed Carson McCullough; a son, Jackie Grandstaff; a brother, James Garrison; and a sister, Elsie Mae McGregor. Survivors include four children, Debbie and her husband Gary Jones, John and his wife Darlene McCullough, and Susan and her husband Nathan Cox all of Lebanon, and Phil and his wife Alice McCullough of Florida. Nine grandchildren, Gary Jones, Jr. and Melanie Jones, Dusty and Luke McCullough, Mike and Rachel Smith, and Kelly, Katlyn, and P.J. McCullough. Six great grandchildren, Ashtyen, Chase, Brandon, Anthony, Paris, and Daltine. A brother, Hoyte and his wife Lucille Garrison of Alexandria. 96 year old George Tramel of Dowelltown died Sunday at his residence. He was a farmer and a member of the Gospel Light House Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Gocie Cassity Tramel; two brothers, Troy Tramel and Johnny Shade Tramel; and a sister, Bessie Tramel. Survivors include his wife, Robbie Hale Tramel of Dowelltown. Two daughters, Georgia and her husband Michael Young and Martha and her husband Tim Cantrell; and one grandson, Nelson Young all of Dowelltown. Three granddaughters, Latonya and Dylan Kleparek of Smithville, Dana Cantrell and Ashley Young both of Dowelltown. Three great grandchildren, Cody Goff and Jasper and Jacklyn Kleparek all of Dowelltown. Two sisters, Alton Hicks of Mount Juliet and Ola Jean Pack of Georgia. Thurman Ray "Jack" Jones

76 year old Thurman Ray "Jack" Jones of McMinnville died Friday at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. He was born in DeKalb County. Jones was one of the original owners of McMinnville Funeral Home and was still serving the public at the time of his death. Jones was a previous chief of the Warren County Rescue Squad and a former coroner of Warren County. He served as a Warren County Commissioner for many years and he owned and operated a burlap business, a grave digging service, and C & N Machine Shop, where he worked as a welder. Jones was also a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Warren Masonic Lodge #125. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home. Phillip Rowland, Jackie Matheny, and Eddie Ware will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.. The Jones family will receive friends from noon until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, William Daniel and Margaret France Jones; brothers, Alec, Walter, Cephas, Tommy, Willie, Acquilla, and Burgess Jones; sisters, Gillie Allen, Florence Humphrey, Annie Mannon, Mary Jones, Percilla Warren, Pelina Marsh, Vina Turner, and America Turner. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Lou Judkins Jones of McMinnville. A son, Jimmy D. Jones of McMinnville. A son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Becky Jones of Cedar Grove. Grandchildren, Andrea, Daniel, Emilie, and Kellie Jones all of McMinnville. Step-grandson, Chris Smith. A step-granddaughter, Amanda Rigsby. Former daughter-in-law, Gail Jones of McMinnville. Sisters, Sue Carter of Winchester, Elsie Newby and Louisa Jennings both of McMinnville and twin sister, Judy Berryhill of Nashville.
