Will D. Hancock

76 year old Will D. Hancock of Whitwell died Wednesday. He was a graduate of Woodbury Central High School. His family resided in Chattanooga before he retired from DuPont. After retirement, Hancock and his family moved to Whitwell where he was a cattle farmer. He also served as president of the Marion County Livestock Association. Hancock was an active member of the Jasper First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. Central Daylight Time at the Jasper First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery at Liberty. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the Sycamore Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Friday followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at the Sycamore Cemetery. Hancock was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Mingle Hancock; his father and mother, Valter Ray and Nonnie Craddock Hancock; and nine brothers and sisters, Nell, Alfred, Ben, Bettye Sue, Reed, Ruth, John, Jane, and an infant sister. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Alan Stephenson of Nashville. A son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Lisa Hancock of Whitwell. Four grandchildren, Reed Stephenson of Kennesaw, Georgia; Kelli and her husband Roger Hancock Layne of Whitwell; Ben Stephenson of Nashville; and Tyler Hancock of Whitwell. Two great granddaughters, Pace Stephenson and Ava Layne and several nieces and nephews. Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Evelyn Frances Curtis

84 year old Evelyn Frances Curtis of Alexandria died Friday at the Summit Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a DeKalb County native. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church, where she was a member. Ronnie Smith and Tommy Curtis will officiate and burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. There will be no visitation on Sunday due to Easter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Willie Malone Kitchings; her husband of 66 years Paul Curtis; and a brother, Charles B. Kitchings. Survivors include two daughters, Faye and her husband William Wooldridge of Lebanon and Kaye Hearn of Mount Juliet. Five grandchildren, Rick and his wife Christy Robinson of Murfreesboro, Mitch Robinson of Lebanon, Angie and her husband Alan Elkins, Anita and her husband Chip Jackson, and Kim and her husband Scott Lattimore all of Mount Juliet. Six great grandchildren. A niece, Lyna Rorie of Watertown and a brother-in-law, Reverend Tommy and his wife Virginia Curtis of Smithville. Two step-grandchildren, Chip and his wife Carol Hearn and Trevor Hearn all of Mount Juliet Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements. Betty Ann Adcock

61 year old Betty Ann Adcock of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sink Creek Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Wendell Judkins will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Woods and Minervia Durham Peoples; a daughter, Lori Smith; sisters, Ruby Bates, Margaret Martin, and Minnie Jo Hattaway; and brothers, Leon Peoples, Sampson Peoples, and Harvey Neal Peoples. Survivors include her husband, Joel Adcock of Smithville. Two daughters, Connie Denise and her husband Tony Bailey of Alexandria and Sherry Wynette and her husband Joe Judkins of Smithville. Grandchildren, Leslie Bailey and Jordan Judkins. Brothers, Harold Peoples and David Peoples of South Pittsburgh and sisters, Mary Lou Campbell of South Pittsburgh and Imogene Ellision of Atlanta, Georgia. Robert Lee Snow

91 year old Robert Lee Snow of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a 57 year member of the First United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Terry Little and Mark Pafford will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Snow was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virgie Mangum Snow; brothers, Howard and Wiley Snow; and a sister, Frances Poss. Survivors include his wife, Mary Snow of Smithville. Three children, Larry and his wife Peggy Snow of McMinnville, Tom Snow of Crossville, and Robin and his wife Mary Beth Treadway of Murfreesboro. Five grandchildren, Chris Snow and Krisann Stanley both of McMinnville, Matt Snow of Murfreesboro, and Elizabeth Treadway and Tucker Treadway both of Murfreesboro. Five great grandchildren. Four sisters, Joann Moore of Smithville, Mary Morgan of Cookeville, Elizabeth Edwards of Lebanon, and Eleanor Burns of Atlanta, Georgia. One brother, Edgar Snow of Knoxville. Marie Neal Hildreth

84 year old Marie Neal Hildreth of Clarksville died Monday at her residence. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Church of the Nazarene. Tony Miller and Maury Norman will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home in Clarksville and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church. A memorial will be held Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the Valhalla Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Huntsville, Alabama. She was a registered nurse in Alabama and Tennessee, the first college nurse at MTSU in Murfreesboso, and she worked at the Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro, and was head nurse at McFarland Hospital in Lebanon. She retired from nursing at Huntsville Hospital in Alabama. She is survived by her husband, Edward D. Hildreth; a son, E. Douglas Hildreth, Jr.; grandchildren, Joshua Hildreth, Kelly Mixon, and Katie Marie Hildreth; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that contributions be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Grace Nazarene Church Building Fund, 3135 Trenton Road, Clarksville, 37040. 77 year old Tom H. Luna of Smithville died Tuesday at NHC Healthcare of Smithville. He was a member of the Mount Hope The Baptist Church in the Jefferson Community. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran, and a retired manager of the Consumer Gas Station. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Greg Hibdon and Garry McBride will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife Lella Jean Luna; parents, Shelia and Lou Cantrell Luna; a grandson, Gregory Luna; sisters, Martha Judkins, Mary Edge, Emma Turner, and Dollie Frances Luna; and brothers, Brack Luna, Mag Luna, and Marshall Luna. Survivors include a son, Robert and his wife Tressia Luna of Smithville. Two daughters, Judy and her husband Ricky Bowman of Gordonsville, and Doris and her husband James Flickinger of Baxter. Six grandchildren, Regina Turner, Amy Phillips, Crystal Harville, Justin Luna, Westley Shoemake, and Josh Bowman. 68 year old Jerry Davis Judkins of McMinnville died Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was a DeKalb County native, a graduate and star athlete at Dibrell High School, a retired nurseryman, and a member of the Whorton Springs Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home. David J. Mahan will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. The Judkins family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at McMinnville Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his father, Elzie Brown Judkins and a daughter, Paula Jean Judkins. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Gonzalez Judkins of McMinnville; his mother, Katie Davis Judkins Young of McMinnville; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Morris Hobbs, Connie and Tooter Bell all of McMinnville, and Rene and Michael Henderson of Flower Mound, Texas; a step-son and his wife, Alberto (Lailo) and Elena Mendez; a step-daughter, Viridiana (Viri) Gonzalez; a brother, Jack Judkins of McMinnville; grandchildren, Ben, Brad and Amy Hobbs, Alexandria Bell, and Catherine Jean (C.J.) 53 year old Eugene Darnell of Brush Creek died Thursday at his residence after an extended illness. He was a Pentecostal and was pastor at the House of Prayer for ten years. He was also a retired iron worker and member of the Iron Worker's Local 492. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Robert Brown, Jerry Braswell, and Phillip Bandy will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Kimbro and Minnie Lee Swoape Darnell; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Darnell. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Darnell of Brush Creek. Two children, Tammy and her husband Chad Coppinger of Short Mountain and Jeremy and his wife Kristy Darnell of Hartsville. Three grandchildren, Wesley and Pacey Coppinger and Samantha Darnell. Three brothers, Horace Darnell of Lebanon, and Buddy and Jimmy Darnell of Normandy. 61 year old Reba Louise Cantrell of Smithville died Thursday at her residence. She was a cafeteria worker for DeKalb Middle School and a member of the Mount Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bernard Houk and Phillip Luna will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Garland Hale; a sister, Brenda Hale; and a niece, Traci Danielle Hale. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Cantrell of Smithville. A daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Marvin Hale of Woodbury. A son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Tonya Cantrell of Woodbury. Four grandchildren, Alisha Hale, Zachary Cantrell, Kelly Cantrell, and Eli Cantrell of Woodbury. Her mother, Louise Mears Hale of Smithville. Three sisters, Joyce Mathis, Wanda Byford, and Gail and Wayne Young all of Smithville. One brother, Danny Hale of McMinnville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
