83 year old Robert Earl Lewis of Alexandria, a retired rural carrier, died Monday at his residence. He was born in Wilson County and was a member and Elder of the Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. Lewis was also a World War II U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany, France, and Belgium. He was a 50 year member of the Alexandria Lodge #175, a Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Eastern Star #417, American Legion, and charter member of the Alexandria Lion's Club. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. Tim Diffenderfer will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd Jennings and Mamie Allen Lewis; and an infant sister. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Atwood Lewis of Alexandria. One son, Greg and his wife Sallie Lewis of Brentwood. A daughter, Lisa and her husband Stan Duke of Knoxville. Grandchildren, Anne and her husband George Lawton of Alabama, Mary Lewis of California, Daniel Lewis of Brentwood, and Tyler Duke and Weston Duke both of Knoxville. Four sisters, Dorothy and her husband Earl West and Annette and her husband Perry Elrod all of Murfreesboro, Linda and her husband Bob Fuston of Smithville, and Betty Lattimore of Liberty. Two brothers, Clyde and his wife Julia Mai Lewis of Alexandria and Hartford and his wife June Lewis of Lebanon. Sixteen nieces and nephews also survive. 93 year old Hallie Haley of McMinnville died Saturday at NHC Health Care Center of an extended illness. A DeKalb County native, she was a housewife, member of the Dibrell Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Short Mountain Order of the Eastern Star. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home in McMinnville. Lanny Johnson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ike Haley; her parents, Thomas Peyton and Bertie Russell Adcock. Survivors include two daughters, Jean Glenn and Peggy Foster both of McMinnville. 29 year old Russell Jared Britt of Nashville died Sunday at his residence. He was a Baptist and a senior at MTSU in Murfreesboro. A graveside service will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Braswell Cemetery on Old Mill Hill Road. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cordell and Lennie Britt; his maternal grandmother, Helen Higham; and an aunt, Kimberly Higham. Survivors include his mother, Kowaliaga Higham of Hermitage. His father and step-mother, Ricky and Rebecca Britt of Nashville. A sister, Ashley Hensley of Nashville. 62 year old Galen Bruce Roll of Dowelltown died Wednesday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. He was a Methodist and a computer programmer. A memorial service will be held at a later date. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion E. and Jacqueline Morrison Roll and a half brother, Earl C. Smith. Survivors include sisters, Barbara Powell of Dowelltown and Karen Elling of Texas. Brothers, Ernest Roll of Louisiana and Allan Roll of Virginia. Nieces, Holly Frazier of Liberty and Nancy Craig of Texas. Nephews, Erin and Shelly Gibson of Dowelltown and Dale and Melanie Craig of Virginia. Seven great nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Roll's remains have been cremated.
94 year old Berlie Randolph Hendrix of Dowelltown died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was retired from the DeKalb County School System and was a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. Jones; a son, Bennie R. Jones; her parents, George and Cuba Lou Smithson Williamson; her step-mother, Myrtle Gaither Williamson and a sister, Louise Mayo.
