82 year old Benjamin Clifton Poss of Madison died Wednesday at Skyline Medical Center. He was an avid fisherman, Atlanta Braves and University of Tennessee fan. He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Poss was a member of the Mount View The Baptist Church and he was retired from the Nashville Electric Service. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dwight Knowles and Dennis Woods will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with military and fire department honors. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. Poss was preceded in death by his parents, David Everett and Wilma Taylor Poss; brothers, William Herbert Poss, Joe Ben Poss, and Mason Poss. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Peggy Joyce Bates Poss; sons, Danny and wife Pamela Poss, Terry and wife Jill Poss, and Teddy Poss; daughter, Donna and husband Mark Brooks; sisters, Reba Knowles and Wanda Dickens; brothers, Dean Poss and Glynn Poss; grandchildren, Justin and wife Jessica Poss, Jillian and husband Dennis Tollison, Brittany and husband Courtney Cagle, Ashleigh and husband Austin Hines, Benjamin Brooks, Halleigh Poss, Taylor Poss, and Zachary Poss; great grandchildren, Brileigh Poss, Braxton Poss, Mason Poss, and Carter Tollison; four legged child, Smokey; special care giver, Cindy Gabbert; and several nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donations in memory of Mr. Poss may be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
