Harold Dean Dawes, age 79 of Smithville passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Alive Hospice House in Nashville. Mr. Dawes was retired from his position in Marketing and Sales at Middle Tennessee Natural Gas and attended Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Dawes was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Tennessee Southern Gas, The Eagles Club, and he was a Shriner. Funeral Services for Harold Dawes will be held in the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville, TN on Sunday, February 4, at 3:30pm with internment to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Bill Robertson and Bro. Joel Wood officiating. Visitation with the Dawes family will be on Saturday from 7pm-9pm and on Sunday from 10am until the service time at 3:30pm. Mr. Dawes was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Daisy Mae Cothron Dawes, one daughter Linda Carol Wauford, and 2 brothers Ralph and Garrett Dawes. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Joel Dawes, 1 Daughter and son-in-law-Judy and Steve Merritt, 4 Sisters- Judy Coley, Betty Minchey, Kaye Sadler and her husband Phillip, Ruth Davis, 1 special sister-in-law- Audrey Dawes, 5 Grandchildren- Kim Shearin (Chris), Tiffanie Claiborne, Eric Barrett (Brandi), Christina Barnes, and Jamie Jackson. 16 Great Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren-James Merritt (Melissa) and Terry Merritt. 6 Step Great Grandchildren, and 2 special friends-Mike & Faye Lamarca.
