The DeKalb County Tigers and Lady Tigers dropped their district games to the Upperman Bees Friday night at Baxter with the girls falling 50 to 18 and the boys suffering a 63 to 35 setback.
For the girls, DC trailed 11 to 8 after the first period and 23 to 8 at halftime after being shutout 12 to 0 in the second quarter. Upperman outscored the Lady Tigers 10 to 4 in the third and led 33 to 12 heading into the fourth quarter. From there, Upperman outscored DC 17 to 6 and won 50 to 18.
Alex Meadows had 6 points for DeKalb County. Danielle Tyson scored 4. Abbey Caldwell had 3, Raye Baker and Lydia Foutch each scored 2 and Chelsea Lewis added 1 point.
In the nightcap, the Tigers got off to a good start, outscoring the Bees 12 to 9. But Upperman took the lead in the second period outscoring DC 15 to 8 and the halftime score was 24 to 20 in favor of the Bees. Upperman edged the Tigers 16 to 12 and extended their lead to 40 to 32 by the end of the third period. The Bees owned the fourth quarter, outscoring DC 23 to 3 and won 63 to 35
Sonni Young led the Tigers with 12 points. Braxton Atnip scored 7. Braxton Howell and Lucas Phillips each scored 4. Stephen Howell and Aaron Patterson each had 3 points and Eli Lomas scored 2.
DeKalb County will host White County tonight (Saturday) starting with the girls game at 6:00 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
