The DeKalb County High School ladies golf team won the district tournament championship Monday in Cookeville.
Mallory Sullivan won the gold medal in the tourney as low medalist and Kallie Mitchell placed third and received the bronze medal
Coach Joe Pat Cope says the team will now prepare for the region tournament while the boys team will compete in the district tournament Wednesday in Cookeville. "Monday over at Ironwood Golf Course, the girls won the A-AA district championship with a score of 172. The next closest team to us was Central Magnet of Murfreesboro with a 206. Upperman shot a 207. Individually Mallory Sullivan got the gold medal for lowest score Monday and Kallie Mitchell got the Bronze Medal for third lowest score Monday. The region tournament will be Friday at the Cookeville Golf Club. The guys will be in district tournament Wednesday at the Cookeville Golf Club. The boys won the regular season district championship. They're undefeated in the district. Wednesday the top three teams in the district tournament will advance to the region tournament. The girls meanwhile, counting tournaments and everything, have a record of 41-5. Their only losses have been to Triple-A schools," said Coach Cope
