DeKalb County Sweeps Gordonsville

The DeKalb County High School Basketball teams swept the Gordonsville Tigers and Tigerettes Tuesday night in Smithville.

The black and gold Tigers won 51 to 47 while the Lady Tigers won by a lopsided 55 to 13 margin.

In the girls game DeKalb County led 7 to 6 after the 1st period, 21 to 11 at halftime, 42 to 13 after the 3rd period and went on to win 55 to 13. Gordonsville was held scoreless in the 4th period.

Emme Colwell and Joni Robinson each scored 9. Mallori Hart 8. Lydia Brown and Megan Cantrell each with 6. Gracie Griffin 5. Mya Ruch and Leah Davis each with 4 and Megan Walker and Hannah Willingham each scored 2.

Gordonsville and the Tigers played to an 11 to 11 tie after the 1st period. DeKalb County led 23 to 22 at halftime and 40 to 34 after the 3rd period before going on to win 51 to 47.

Marshal Evins scored 22. Colter Norris had 9. Nathan Atkins and Tanner Poss each had 7, Austin Johnson 4, and Trey Jones with 2.

DeKalb County is off for the rest of the week. Their next games will be on Friday, December 29 at home against Trousdale County starting at 2 p.m.
