The DeKalb County High School Lady Tiger soccer team blanked York Institute, 5-0, Monday evening in Smithville. The win keeps the Lady Tigers perfect in district play at 3-0. Their overall season record is 4-3.
Cynthia Woodward kicked three first half goals for the Lady Tigers, which gave the team a 3-0 lead at the intermission. Woodward scored her first goal in the eighth minute, added her second in the 12th minute, and kicked in her third goal in the 23rd minute. Alisha Chapman scored the team's fourth goal in the 10th minute of the second half, while Jessica Richards tallied the team's final score, with her goal in the 24th minute of the second half.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to take on Jackson County, Tuesday evening, at 6:00 p.m. in another district clash. A win for DeKalb over the Lady Blue Devils will ensure the team no worse than a second place finish in the final regular season district race. The team's final regular season district game will be played on October 9th, when the Lady Tigers will visit Livingston Academy.
