The DeKalb County Lady Tiger basketball team edged Watertown, 53-50, Friday evening at the Nera White Christmas Tournament in Lafayette. The win moved the DCHS girls into a consolation game to determine fifth place, Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against host Macon County, a 41-29 winner over Trousdale County on Friday.
Cynthia Woodward scored 14 points for the Lady Tigers, who were tied with the Purple Tigerettes, 14-14, at the end of the first period. DC claimed a 21-13 advantage in the second, and opened up a 35-27 lead at the half.
Watertown, behind Britnee Sells' 22 points, would no go away quietly, as they trimmed the Lady Tiger lead to 42-36 at the end of the third, and out-scored DeKalb, 14-11, in the final period.
The win gives the DCHS girls a 4-8 record for the year, and their third win over Watertown, this season.
