The DeKalb County Tigers were hoping for a 9-1 regular season record, a second place finish in the district, and some extra momentum heading into the state play-offs next week but the night belonged to the Livingston Academy Wildcats Friday in a 42-7 whipping of the black and gold on Senior Night.
The Tigers could not stop the Wildcats running game.
It all started on Livingston Academy's opening possession and the Wildcats marched 82 yards down field to get their first touchdown of the night. Creed Hayes scored on an 11 yard touchdown run. The P.A.T. was good and the Wildcats led 7-0 with 7:44 left in the first period.
Hayes scored his second touchdown of the night on a 36 yard run with 1:48 left in the first period. The P.A.T. was good and the Wildcats led 14-0
The Tigers got their only score of the game on a four yard touchdown run by Zach Taylor with 8:41 left in the second period. Taylor's P.A.T. was good and DC trailed 14-7
Livingston Academy quarterback Brock McCoin scored on a 10 yard touchdown run with 5:12 left in the second period and the P.A.T. gave the visitors a 21-7 lead.
The Tigers threatened late in the second period, getting down to the Wildcat one yard line as time expired.
Livingston Academy continued its dominance in the second half, scoring three more touchdowns.
With 6:20 left in the third period, Livingston quarterback Brock McCoin scored on a one yard run. The P.A.T. was good and the Wildcats were on top 28-7.
Creed Hayes scored this third touchdown of the night for the Wildcats with 1:07 left in the third period on an eight yard run. The P.A.T. was good and Livingston Academy extended its lead to 35-7.
McCoin went to the air on the Wildcats last touchdown of the game, finding Tyler Martin on a 30 yard pass play for the score with 33 seconds in the third period. The PA.T. was good and Livingston Academy went on to win 42-7.
