The DeKalb County 10-11 year old Senior Tiger football team will play for the Middle Tennessee Youth Football Conference championship tonight (Saturday) in Livingston. The Senior Tigers will battle the Smith County Chargers at 8:00 p.m. This marks the eighth straight season the 10-11 year olds have played for the conference title.
The Senior Tigers advanced to the championship game by virtue of a 33-0 rout of Fentress County, last Saturday, in the conference semifinals. DeKalb County pounded Cannon County, 52-7, in the opening round of the playoffs. Smith County edged DeKalb County, 13-12, back on September 1st in Carthage in the regular season meeting for the two teams. The Senior Tigers dropped the championship game, last season, to Overton County.
The 7-8-9 year old Junior Tigers, meanwhile, wrapped their season up last Saturday, as they were upset by Fentress County, 24-13, in the conference semifinals. Fentress County will play Pickett County for the Junior Division title at 6:00 p.m., prior to DeKalb County's game with Smith County.
