DCHS Lady Tiger golf senior, Shay Sullivan, won the individual portion of the District 7-A/AA Golf Tournament for the third consecutive season, Monday at Ironwood Golf Course in Cookeville. Sullivan shot an 80, which gave her a seven-stroke win among individual medalists.
Meanwhile, the Lady Tiger golf team had their streak of four consecutive District Tournament crowns snapped, as the DC girls finished third. The finish, however, was good enough to qualify the team for a Region Tournament berth, next Tuesday, at The Legacy in Springfield. DeKalb County finished with a 189, which was ten strokes behind tournament champion, Monterey, who finished with a 179. Clarkrange finished in second place, with a 183. Kalli Mitchell shot a 109 to round out the team score for the Lady Tigers.
The DeKalb girls are 12-21 in match play, this season, and will compete in the Region Tournament, next week. Sullivan is also the defending individual Region champion, and has represented DCHS at the State Tournament in each of the last two seasons.
The DeKalb County Tiger golf team, meanwhile, are participating in the boys' District Tournament at White Plains Golf Course in Cookeville today (Tuesday). The Tigers are the two-time defending District champs.
