The DeKalb County Tigerettes advanced to the Regional final Monday night with a 9-0 win over visiting Sequatchie County. With the win the local squad also earned an automatic berth in the sub-state.
DeKalb will take on District 8 foe Macon County, who defeated Chattanooga Christian in the other Regional game Monday.
After threatening to score in the first two innings, DeKalb finally got on the scoreboard with a single run in the third. Joni Robinson opened the fourth inning with a solo homerun and the Tigerettes scored three more in the inning to take a 5-0 lead. DeKalb added two runs in the 5th inning and two more in the 6th to secure the win.
Kayley Caplinger got the win and struck out 11 Sequatchie batters.
The Tigerettes scored 1 run in the 3rd inning, 4 runs in the 4th, and 2 runs in the 5th and 6th innings. DeKalb County got 9 runs on 12 hits and made 1 error. The Lady Indians were held scoreless on 4 hits and made 3 errors.
Joni Robinson had a homerun. Megan Walker and Emme Colwell each with 2 singles. Lexie Bates, Kayley Caplinger, Kenzie France, Allison Maynard, Joni Robinson, Myranda Bailiff, and Hanah Panter each singled.
