The DeKalb County Tigerettes won the regular season district championship with a 12 to 4 victory over Smith County Monday in Smithville.
DeKalb County scored two runs in the third inning, seven runs in the fifth, and three runs in the sixth inning.
Smith County scored three runs in the first inning and one run in the sixth inning.
Kayla Self, the winning pitcher, went the distance in the seven inning game. She gave up four runs on six hits, struck out four, and walked one.
The Tigerettes had ten hits in the game including a single for Cynthia Woodward, Kristina Stephens, Kara Young, and Kayla Self. Victoria Bennett had two singles, Alex Meadows had a single and a double, Brooke Hutchings tripled, and Kristian Puckett doubled.
DeKalb County is now 23-6 overall and 11-1 in the district. The Tigerettes will wrap up the regular season at home against Gordonsville in a double header starting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
DeKalb County will play their first game of the district tournament at Upperman on Monday.
