Tigers Beat Owls, Lady Tigers Lose in District Clash

The DCHS basketball teams split with the visiting Smith County Owls Friday night in Smithville.

The Lady Tigers lost 53 to 40 while the Tigers won 69 to 44. Ethan Roller broke the single season school record for three point shots made.

In the girls game, DC trailed 13 to 8 after the first period, 25 to 17 at halftime, and 35 to 24 after the third quarter, before falling 53 to 40.

Loren Cripps scored 12 points. Paige Winningham 11. Ashli Chew 8 and McKenzie Poteete, Jailyn Bolding, and Morgan Pedigo each with 3 points.

For the boys, the Tigers led 16 to 11 after the first period, 33 to 23 at halftime, and 56 to 37 after the third period, before going on to win 69 to 44.

Steven Jennings led the Tigers in scoring with 24 points. Ethan Roller 16. Aaron Patterson 9, Kaleb Ferrell 7, Austin Frazier 6, Justin Bone 4 and Chandler Wincent with 3 points.

DeKalb County will host Gordonsville Saturday night, February 1 starting with the girls game at 6:00 p.m.
