The DeKalb County Tigers eliminated the Livingston Academy Wildcats 11-8 in a District Tournament play-in game Thursday evening in Smithville.
DeKalb County scored four runs in the second inning, one run in the third, three runs in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth inning.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the first, three runs in the third, and three runs in the fourth inning.
Shane Salley had a three run homerun and three singles for the Tigers. Dylan Roller had an RBI single. Travis Neal had two RBI, Cody Atnip had two singles and three RBI, Destry Wiggins doubled, and Jesse Sutton and Matt Giles each had an RBI.
Garrett Hoke, the starting Tiger pitcher, went three innings and gave up five runs on seven hits. He struck out one, walked one, and hit a batter. Shane Salley , the winning pitcher, came on for the last four innings and gave up three runs on three hits. He struck out one and walked one. The Wildcats were held scoreless the last three innings of the game.
The Tigers now advance to the double elimination portion of the District Tournament next week at Baxter. More details forthcoming.
