The Upperman Bees edged the DeKalb County Tiger baseball team, 7-6, Tuesday in Baxter to complete a regular season district sweep. Upperman topped the Tigers, 4-1, Monday in Smithville.
DeKalb County took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but the Bees gained the edge with a two-run third inning. The Tigers erupted for five runs in the top of the fourth inning to open up a 6-2 lead. Upperman battled back, however, with a run in the bottom of the fifth, two more runs in the sixth, and claimed the win by scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh and final inning.
Bray Page took the loss on the mound and dropped to 1-1 on the hill. Page worked 6 and one-third innings, allowed seven runs - three earned - on nine hits, struck out six and walked five. The Tigers had six hits and committed three errors, while Upperman had nine hits and committed two errors. Destry Wiggins had a single, a double and an RBI; Page had two singles and an RBI, while Corey Atnip and Colt Stewart each had a single and an RBI.
DeKalb County drops to 6-2 overall and to 2-2 in district play, while Upperman improves to 8-1 overall and to 4-0 in the district.
