The Lady Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter but watched another close game slip away Tuesday night as they lost to the visiting York Institute Lady Dragons 51 to 48. The Tigers won 69 to 56.
In the girls game, DC trailed 9 to 6 after the first period and 22 to 17 by halftime, being outscored 13 to 11 in the second period. York Institute extended its lead to 38 to 29 by the close of the third quarter, outscoring DC 16 to 12. In the fourth quarter the Lady Tigers rallied, outscoring the Lady Dragons 19 to 13 but lost by three, 51 to 48.
Two Lady Tigers were in double figures with Alex Meadows scoring 18 and Chelsea Lewis with 15. Loren Cripps had 6. Danielle Tyson 4. Abbey Caldwell 3 and Ashley Barnes 2.
For the boys, the Tigers opened up a 24 to 10 lead after the first period and though outscored 15 to 12 in the second quarter, led 36 to 25 by halftime. DC outpaced the Dragons 16 to 10 in the third period and expanded the lead to 52 to 35. The Dragons drew closer in the fourth period, outscoring the Tigers 21 to 17 but not close enough as DeKalb County won 69 to 56.
Sonni Young led the Tigers with 17. Braxton Atnip, Lucas Phillips, and Stephen Howell each scored 12. Eli Lomas had 8. Will Molander 5. Ethan Roller 2 and Braxton Howell with 1.
