The DCHS Tigerettes defeated York Institute 13-0 in the first round of the District 8AA Softball Tournament Saturday at Upperman High School in Baxter. The Tigerettes will face Upperman Monday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m. at Baxter.
The DeKalb County Tigers defeated Livingston Academy 2-1 in their first round game of the District 8AA Baseball Tournament Friday in Murfreesboro.
Tiger Pitcher Sam McMillen gave up 1 run on 2 hits through 7 innings. He struck out 5 and walked 1.
Stephen Jennings and Lee Randolph each singled and John Maynard had a single and a double.
After seven years as head coach of the DCHS Lady Tiger basketball program, Joe Pat Cope will not be back for another season next year. He is also not expected to return as teacher.
School administrators have decided to make a change. Cope is also out as the DCHS golf and tennis coach next year.

Ashli Chew, a senior and member of the DCHS Lady Tiger Basketball Squad, has been selected to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association 2015-16 Girls All-State Team in Class AA.
The DCHS Tigerettes will play their first game of the District 8AA Softball Tournament Saturday morning, May 7 at Upperman High School in Baxter. Their opponent will be York Institute. The game is set for 10:30 a.m. DeKalb County is the #1 seed. York Institute is the #8 seed. The winner will play Monday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m. against either Upperman or Cannon County.
The DCHS Tigers will make their debut in the District 8 AA Baseball Tournament Friday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m. in Murfreesboro. Their opponent will be Livingston Academy.
The Tigers enter the tournament as the #3 seed and Livingston Academy is the #6 seed. The winner will face either Central Magnet or Macon County on Saturday, May 7 at 2:30 p.m. in Murfreesboro.
The DCHS Tigerettes shutout Upperman at Baxter 14 to 0 Tuesday.
The Tigerettes scored 14 runs on 15 hits and made 1 error. Upperman was held scoreless on 5 hits and made 3 errors.

The DeKalb County High School Tigers swept Livingston Academy in a doubleheader Monday in Smithville winning 3 to 0 and 11 to 2.
In the first game, DeKalb County won 3-0. Tiger pitcher Steven Jennings pitched a 1 hit shutout through 5 innings. He struck out 8.
Sam McMillen had a homerun and Jacob Self doubled.
In the second game, the Tigers won 11 to 2.
The DCHS Tigerettes shutout Smith County 12 to 0 in Smithville Thursday.
DeKalb County scored 12 runs on 14 hits and made 1 error. Smith County was held scoreless on 1 hit and made no errors.
The Tigerettes scored 1 run in the 1st inning, 2 runs in the 3rd, 4 runs in the 4th, 1 run in the 5th, and 4 runs in the 6th inning.
Kayley Caplinger was the winning pitcher.
