The DeKalb County High School basketball teams split a district doubleheader with Cannon County, Friday night in Smithville. The Lady Tigers rallied from an early 12-point deficit and pulled to within a single point of the Lionettes in the second period, but the Cannon girls pulled away late for a 58-46 win. In the nightcap, the Tigers found themselves in an early five-point hole, but the local team took command of the game and rolled on to a 57-38 win.
Cannon County scored the first seven points of the girls game, and rolled up a 19-7 advantage late in the first period. The Lady Tigers scored the last five points of the period, and trailed 19-12 by the end of the first. A 9-2 Lady Tiger run pulled DeKalb to within a point, with 3:50 left in the half, but the Lionettes closed out the period with a 10-2 run, and claimed a 32-23 halftime edge.
