The DeKalb Saints will host Macon County Thursday night, September 12 in the last home game of the regular season. Eighth grade night activities will begin at 6 p.m. with the game to kick-off at 6:30 p.m.
The Saints dropped to 2-3 this past Thursday night losing 42-14 on the road at Baxter.
“We played well the first half and were down only 14-8 at halftime but we gave up a wheel route for a touchdown in the third period which put Upperman up 20-8. We scored on our first drive of the second half which cut Upperman’s lead to 20-14 but we had trouble stopping the quarterback run game and later found ourselves down 26-14. After that we drove the ball well but fumbled and a couple of plays later Upperman took advantage of it with another score putting us behind 34-14. Upperman added another touchdown in the fourth quarter and went on to win 42-14,” said Saints Coach Justin Poteete.
“Ultimately we can play with anybody when we put it all together for four quarters but we can’t afford mistakes like false starts, fumbles, and weak arm tackles and we lack depth. A few players had their best game of the season but we need more than a few playing well to be able to compete for another championship,” added Coach Poteete.
