Lady Tigers 2-0 in Florida’s Daytona Beach Shootout

The Lady Tigers went 2-0 on the first day of the Daytona Beach Shootout in Florida Friday.

In their debut game of the shootout, the Lady Tigers defeated LaRue County High School from Kentucky 40-28. DeKalb County led by 1 at the half but went on a 16-2 run to finish out the 3rd quarter to take a 29-14 advantage into the fourth period. Emme Colwell led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 16 points. Kadee Ferrell had 12, Kenzie France 5, Grace Griffin 3, Megan Cantrell 3, and Mya Ruch with 1.

In the nightcap DeKalb County knocked off Jasper Place from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada 38-31. According to Lady Tiger Coach Danny Fish, the two time Providence champions from a school with 2,900 enrollment had size but the Lady Tigers matched that with tough and physical play. DeKalb County was led in scoring by Emme Colwell with 13 points. Mya Ruch 9, Kadee Ferrell 9, Megan Walker 5 and Kenzie France with 2.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action today (Saturday, December 28) at 12 noon against the Dutchtown Bulldogs from Hampton, Georgia in the winner’s Bracket Semi-finals.

The DCHS Tigers went 1-2 in the AFLAC Christmas Tournament at Watertown High School

The tournament was held Thursday through Saturday last week.

The Tigers lost to Lebanon on Thursday night 86 to 42 and to Cookeville on Friday night 67 to 46. The Tigers defeated Moore County 58 to 48 on Saturday.

Overall the Tigers are now 4-8 and 1-2 in the District. They will be back in action on January 4 hosting Cookeville.
