George “Blackie” Davis age 84 of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday October 16, 2020 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was born July 8, 1936 in DeKalb County to his parents, the late Everett and Hallie Tittsworth Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Mae Davis and France Davis Chinn; five brothers, Bobby “Brown” Davis, John “Gray” Davis, Frank Davis, Jack Davis and Bill T. “Whitey” Davis. Mr. Davis was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and he was a Mason, member of Masonic Lodge #417 Blue Lodge in Detroit, MI. He served in the U.S. Air Force. A retired business man and engineer who left the farm in DeKalb County and traveled the world. He returned home for his final years to enjoy his family, friends and of course golf. George told his family to celebrate his life, don’t mourn his passing and trust in Jesus. It’s not goodbye, but see you later. His family has honored his request to be cremated. A Memorial Service will held at a later date, which will be announced. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lenora Davis of Smithville; son, Michael Pascoe and his wife who is like a daughter, Cheryl of Smithville; his littlest love, his maltese Debbie; one brother, Jimmy (Lois) Davis and their son, Tony of Smithville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Service Dog Project, 37 Boxford Road, Ipswich MA 01938. Service Dog Project provide free Great Dane service dogs to veterans, children and others in need. Donations may also be made in Mr. Davis’s memory to the Shriners Hospital to help children.
