Livingston Academy wins first round over DeKalb

In their first meeting of the season, the DeKalb County Tigers and Lady Tigers lost to Livingston Academy Tuesday night in Smithville.

The Lady Tigers were outmatched 71 to 37 and the Tigers came up short losing 59 to 52.

In the girls game, DC trailed 31 to 11 after the 1st period, 40 to 28 at halftime, and 56 to 30 after the 3rd period before losing 71 to 37.

Kadee Ferrell scored 15, Madison Martin and Cadee Griffith each with 6 points, Xharia Lyons and Ella VanVranken each with 4 and Summer Crook with 2.

The Tigers led 16 to 13 after the 1st period of the boys game but trailed 30 to 28 at halftime, and 43 to 41 after the 3rd period before falling to the Wildcats 59 to 52.

Evan Jones scored 19, Jordan Young 9, Elishah Ramos 7, Stetson Agee 5, and Luke Jenkins, Brayden Antoniak and Conner Close each with 4.

The Tigers drop to 7-9 (3-6) while the Lady Tigers slip to 7-10 (2-7). The Wildcats improve to 8-8 (3-2) and the Lady Wildcats are 12-5 (3-2)

DeKalb County travels to Watertown Friday night, January 29. WJLE will have LIVE coverage starting with the girls game at 6 p.m. followed by the boys contest.
