James Morris “Jim” Davies age 77 passed away at his residence in Smithville on Friday morning January 29, 2021. He was born October 10, 1943 to his parents the late Charles Edwin “Ham” and Lillian Helena Davies. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Walter Lee Davies and Charles Barry Davies; niece, Whitney Layne Scott. He was a Baptist, U. S. Navy Veteran, pawn shop broker, former police officer and automobile dealer for many years. Mr. Davies is survived by his wife, Kathie Tribble Davies; son, Lee J. Davies; daughter, Mandy Davies Winfree (Don); bonus daughters, Tiffany Davies Junker (Dusty), and Courtney Lockert; grandchildren, Lissa Davies, Cole Winfree, Matthew Winfree, Maddux “LJ” Winfree, McClane Guerra, Jon Michael Guerra, Hunter Lockert, Noah Lockert, Hannah Junker, Nathan Junker; sister, Stacye Davies; best cousin, Butch Haley. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, January 31, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Shannon Cantrell and Bro, Jimmy Tyson officiating and burial to follow in Griffith Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Saturday 3 PM until 6 PM and Sunday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 2:30 PM. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The pews in the chapel are marked off to respect these guidelines and allow 100 to 125 people for the service. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. In addition to flowers, the family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Animal Shelter, Outreach Baptist Church or Temple Baptist Church, in memory of Jim. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
