Ms. Ada Ruth Tittle of Portland age 81, passed away Thursday February 18, 2021 at her residence in Portland, TN. She was born July 1, 1939 to her parents the late John Adam and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Jennings Tittle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, John Wayne Lanier; brothers, Jack, Henry, Mack, and John Tittle, Jr;: sisters, Betty Tennessee Linear, Rosie Murphy, Mai Tittle, and Ethel Lee Cassity. Ms. Ada Ruth was a child of God, a homemaker and farmer. She is survived by her son David C. Linear “Sam Bo”; step-daughter, Carolyn Rose Basham; 5 grandchildren, Jerry Ray, Jessie, Jennifer, Kim, and Frankie; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Charlene Rogers; special niece and nephew, Ruth (Charlie) Lawson and Danny Bradley; a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces; and her special pet, Polly. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday February 24, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Charlie Lawson officiating and burial to follow in Jennings Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The funeral home chapel is marked off to respect these guidelines and allow 100-125 for the service. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and NO food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
