Dan Austin Fuson age 76 of Dowelltown, passed away Wednesday evening, November 17, 2021 peacefully at his home. He was born September 28, 1945 to his parents, the late Joe and Ava Nell Groom Fuson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Carol Fuson; sister, Helen Hankins; nephew, Robert Hankins. Dan was a member of the Snow Hill United Methodist Church. He was a former grocery store owner. Dan served in the United States Army, serving in the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ramona Jane Fuson of Dowelltown; a very special great-niece and nephew, Aniston Jane Farler and Marshall Austin Farler; brother, Lewis Fuson of Smithville; sister, Carol (Don) Crook of Smithville; brother-in-law, Bob Hankins of Arkansas; brother-in-law, Jerry (Theresa) Farler of Alabama; sister-in-law, Jeanie (Jerry) Pack of McMinnville; nephews, Joe (Missy) Fuson of Smithville, Jacob (Kim) Crook of Liberty, Jason (Joanna) Fuson of Smithville, Keith (Sabrina) Farler of Dowelltown, James (Ashley) Pack of McMinnville, Adam Farler and Jerry Farler, Jr. both of Alabama; nieces, Cherrie Page of Dowelltown, Inez (Traye) Cope of McMinnville; Katherine (Caleb) Wade of Alabama and Dallas (David) Walker of Alabama. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews. Public Graveside services will be 1 PM Friday, November 19, 2021 at Salem Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and military honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. There will not be any visitation or services at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Salem Cemetery Fund, in memory of Dan and those can be made by calling or going by the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
