DCHS Sweeps Season Series with Cannon County

The DCHS basketball teams completed a season sweep of Cannon County winning at Woodbury Monday night. The Lady Tigers cruised to a 59 to 44 victory while the Tigers got by the Lions 50 to 49.

In the earlier meeting on November 23 in Smithville the Tigers and Lions slugged it out into double overtime before DC prevailed winning 79 to 77. The Lady Tigers also won that night beating the Lionettes 78 to 69.

On Monday night at Woodbury, the Lady Tigers opened up a 24 to 5 advantage by the end of the 1st period and led 36 to 27 at halftime and 48 to 33 after the 3rd period before getting the 59 to 44 win.

Ella Van Vranken scored 22 followed by Kadee Ferrell 16, Madison Martin 10, Avery Agee 5, and Dare Collins and Natalie Snipes each with 3.

The Tigers led 15 to 14 after the 1st period but trailed at halftime 28 to 25. DC pulled ahead 37 to 35 after the 3rd period and went on to win 50 to 49.

Stetson Agee scored 18 followed by Connor Close 13, Robert Wheeler 10, Brayden Antoniak 6, and Elishah Ramos 3.

DeKalb County will host Smith County tonight (Tuesday, December 7) starting with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
