Two people escaped injury in a crash involving an SUV and a farm tractor pulling a bush hog today (Wednesday) on Highway 70 at Liberty.

According to Trooper Bobby Johnson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 42 year old Letitia Self of Liberty was eastbound on Highway 70 in a 2017 Kia SUV and in front of her also traveling east was a John Deere Tractor pulling a bush hog, operated by 82 year old J.C. Carter of Smithville. The SUV struck the rear of the bush hog causing both the Kia and tractor to crash into a concrete bridge rail. The SUV came to final rest leaned up against the rail. Neither Self nor Carter were injured.

Self told Trooper Johnson that she didn’t see the tractor in front of her because her windshield was fogged over.

Members of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, DeKalb Volunteer Fire Department, and DeKalb EMS were also on the scene.
