86-year-old Charles Reed Crook of Alexandria died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center. He was a DeKalb County native and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Ronnie Smith and Ricky Scruggs will officiate, and burial will be in the Dismal Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Crook was preceded in death by his parents, Willy Crook and Ida Bell Sandlin; his wife of 68 years, Taye Crook; a son, Billy Wayne Crook; his brother, Roy Lee Crook; and his sister, Betty Jean Spencer. He is survived by his children, Mary Lou and husband Tom Baumann of Smithville, Judy Ann Crook of Alexandria, Cathy Bayne of Murfreesboro, Dan and Angela Crook of Lebanon, and Brenda and husband Jonathan Hammond of Columbia. Grandchildren, Jason Nixon of Knoxville, Jeff and Sarah Nixon of College Grove, R.D. Bayne of California, Christopher and fiancé Elizabeth of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kayla Crook of Lebanon, Joshua Crook of Hermitage, and Austin Hammond of Columbia. Great grandchildren, William Nixon, Mary Nixon, Jordan Bayne, and Grace Bayne. Brothers, J.T. and wife Joyce Ann Crook of Lebanon, Wayne and wife Sara Crook of Lebanon; and a sister, Joyce Hale of Liberty. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Dismal Cemetery. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
