The DCHS basketball teams took down the Macon County Tigers and Tigerettes at Lafayette Friday night winning the girls game 54 to 39 and the boys contest 69 to 48.
It was their first meeting this season. With the wins the Tigers improve to 9-6 and get their first district victory of the season. The Lady Tigers are now 9-7 and have evened their district mark to 2-2.
The Macon County girls are now 4-11 overall and 0-4 in district play while the Tigers of Macon County are 5-12 and 0-4 in the district.
DeKalb County doesn’t have much time to celebrate as they travel to McMinnville today (Saturday) to face Warren County in a rematch. In their first meeting of the season on November 25, the Tigers defeated the Pioneers 68 to 66 while the Lady Tigers lost to the Lady Pioneers 78 to 53.

The Warren County boys are now 4-11 and the Lady Pioneers are 12-5.
In the girls game at Lafayette Friday night, the Lady Tigers of DC trailed 9 to 6 after the 1st period but edged the Macon County Tigerettes in the second period to take a 16 to 15 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers got a little more breathing room in the 3rd period and led 31 to 27 to start the 4th period. From there DC outscored Macon County 23 to 12 and won 54 to 39.
Ella VanVranken and Dare Collins shared high scoring honors for DC with 14 each followed by Avery Agee 12, Madison Martin 8 and Chloe VanVranken with 6.
For the boys, DeKalb County doubled up Macon County 16 to 8 by the end of the 1st period and led 29 to 21 by halftime. The Tigers expanded their lead over Macon County to 46 to 30 by the close of the 3rd period and cruised to a 69 to 48 final.
Stetson Agee and Conner Close each scored 17 followed by Elishah Ramos with 11, Zack Birmingham and Seth Fuson each with 7, Jon Hendrix 6, Kaleb Spears 2, and Robert Wheeler with 2.
Meanwhile, the DCHS basketball teams were swept at Livingston Academy Tuesday night, January 3 with the Lady Tigers losing 62 to 49 and the Tigers dropping the contest to the Wildcats 70 to 64

In the girls game Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers found themselves behind 18 to 9 after the 1st period, 32 to 27 at halftime, and 47 to 38 after the 3rd period before falling 62 to 49 to the Lady Wildcats.
Ella VanVranken led in scoring with 28 points followed by Chloe VanVranken 10, Avery Agee 9, and Tess Barton with 2.
In the boys game, the Tigers led 17 to 16 after the 1st period and 34 to 30 at halftime. The Wildcats took a 48 to 47 lead after the 3rd period and went onto win 70 to 64.
Robert Wheeler led the Tigers in scoring with 16 followed by Stetson Agee with 15, Conner Close and Elishah Ramos each with 12, Alex Antoniak 4, Zack Birmingham with 3, and Ean Jones 2.
