A local man and clergyman in the community has been indicted by the grand jury in a child sex crime.
James Michael Carpenter is being held without bond on a charge of aggravated sexual battery. He was named in a sealed indictment by the grand jury last week.
The victim was 4 years old at the time of the first offense.
According to the indictment, Carpenter “on or about April 17, 2015 to April 17, 2017 in DeKalb County and before the finding of this indictment did unlawfully make sexual contact with a minor child less than 13 years of age in violation of state law”.
Carpenter will be arraigned in DeKalb County Criminal Court on August 7.
