Two people were injured in a rainy Thursday night crash in Smithville near the intersection of Highway 146 and Adams Street.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Dalton Allen Mathias was traveling north in a 2009 Nissan Altima in the right lane of Highway 146 as 33-year-old Benjamin Jacob Franklin was east on Gentry Avenue in a 2017 Kia Sorento. After coming to a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 146, Franklin attempted to cross the highway to head east on Adams Street when he crossed the path of Mathias’ vehicle.
The front end of Mathias’ car collided with the right side of Franklin’s automobile. As Mathias’ car came to a final rest off the right side of Highway 146 on Adams Street, Franklin’s car ran off the right side of the roadway, collided with a house and then hit a tree where it came to a final rest.
Although both Mathias and Franklin were wearing their seatbelts, both were injured.
