Richard “Andy” Andrew Scruggs, age 44 of Sparta, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at his residence in Sparta. He was born in Greenville, South Carolina on November 20, 1979 to his parents, Richard “Ricky’ and Deborah “Debbie” Scruggs. He was a factory worker and attended Life Church in Cookeville. He had a love of music, hiking and was an artist and musician. Andy was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother, and uncle. He made a lot of friends in life who were very special to him. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty Hudson, and GL & Betty Harrison and niece, Rayleigh Scruggs.
Andy is survived by his wife, Kayla Scruggs of Sparta; 3 children, Julian Scruggs, Zoey Scruggs, and Chloe Scruggs all of Sparta; parents, Ricky and Debbie Scruggs of Smithville; 1 sister, Michelle (Don) Greer of Smithville; 2 brothers, Chris Scruggs and Jeremy Scruggs both of Smithville; mother-in-law, Kathy (Michael) Flatt of Cookeville; father-in-law, Eddie (Debbie) Clouse of Sparta; brother-in-law, Kyle (Cadie) Clouse of Quebec; grandfather, Getties Hudson of South Carolina; grandmother-in-law, Wilma Clouse of Mississippi; nieces and nephews, Jamie Scruggs, Elaine Greer, Victoria Greer, Cameron Scruggs, Landon Scruggs, Leland Scruggs, Devin Knight, Madison Law, Lilly Quistarrd, Emery and Finley, Luke and Ava, Audrey Clouse, and Owen Clouse; several cousins also survive.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1 at 11am in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 1-7pm and on Thursday 10am until the service at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
