Two Sentenced in Separate Drug Cases

A man arrested in a drug bust in November by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department was sentenced in DeKalb County Criminal Court on Monday, March 25.

41-year-old Alton Lee Cohea Jr. entered a plea by criminal information to possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II drug (Methamphetamine) over 0.5 grams and received a 10-year TDOC sentence suspended to supervised probation. He was fined $2,000 and given jail credit of 130 days. The case against a co-defendant, 29-year-old Allyson Judkins apparently remains pending in court.

Chief Deputy Brian Williams of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department said that detectives executed a search warrant at 600 East Broad Street Smithville (Magnolia Inn) room 110 on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 and found Cohea and Judkins there along with 95 grams of Methamphetamine, 5.59 grams of Fentanyl, 1 Suboxone pill with Suboxone powder in a baggy, 8 grams of Marijuana, and 16 grams of Marijuana resin. Other items found were packaging material for sale and delivery and multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia that included 18 glass pipes, 2 marijuana grinders, 190 packaging bags, 2 marijuana cigarette rollers, 2 electronic scales, 2 packs of rolling papers, 6 lighters, and 4 containers.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old Molly Sue Lawrence entered a plea to two counts of attempted possession of a schedule I drug (Heroin) for sale. She received 4 years in each case to run consecutively with each other (8 years) and consecutively with a Rutherford County case against her (8 years) for a total of 16 years. She was also fined $2,000.

65-year-old Ronald Glenn Young entered a plea by criminal information to reckless endangerment and received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days all suspended to supervised probation.
