DCHS Basketball Season Tips Off Tuesday Night (VIEW VIDEOS HERE)

The DCHS basketball season gets underway next Tuesday night, November 13 as the Tigers and Lady Tigers host Pickett County on Hall of Fame week.

Lady Tiger Coach Danny Fish said his team has performed well during the pre-season and is looking forward to the challenge of taking on the Lady Bobcats, among the state’s top 5 Single-A programs. Tip-off of the girls game Tuesday night is at 6 p.m. After Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers will face Van Buren County on Saturday, November 17 starting at 4 p.m. in Smithville.

First year Tiger Coach John Sanders said he too has liked what he has seen from his team.

“We have had about seven days to practice and each day has gotten better. We’re learning to compete really well. We probably need to work on defense and rebounding a little more to get a little tougher and more physical but I am pleased with the effort so far from the players,” he said.

As for the next week’s Hall of Fame games, Coach Sanders said they will pose a good test for the Tigers.

“Both of those programs (Pickett and Van Buren counties) are historically good. They lost of lot of seniors last year so they will probably be rebuilding but they are still very good,” he said.
