Alexandria Police have charged a man who allegedly broke into a home and helped himself to some food from the kitchen while there.
41-year-old James Joplin Jr. of Hendersonville is facing aggravated burglary and public intoxication charges.
Alexandria Police Chief Travis Bryant said that on August 7, police were summoned to Allen Street due to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival they found two men in the front yard. One of the men, the homeowner stated that he was in bed and heard his dog barking. When he went to investigate, he observed a man, Joplin in the hallway eating items he had taken from the kitchen. While speaking with Joplin, officers determined that he may have been under the influence of an intoxicant. Joplin was placed under arrest and his bond was set at $8,000. He will appear in court on August 22.
54-year-old Steven Curtis of Upper Helton Road, Alexandria is charged with possession of a schedule III drug (Suboxone) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Chief Bryant said that on July 12, an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and spoke with the driver, Curtis. A search of the automobile revealed a pill crusher and half of a Suboxone pill.
A recent confrontation between two men in Alexandria resulted in charges against both. According to Chief Bryant, 31-year-old Dale Stubblefield of Laverne Street, Alexandria is charged with assault while 30-year-old Joshua Lee of Anthony Avenue Smithville is charged with aggravated assault. Chief Bryant said that on July 22, officers responded to a fight call on Laverne Street and upon arrival found Stubblefield and Lee. During the investigation, police determined that a verbal altercation had occurred between the two men. According to Chief Bryant, Stubblefield allegedly approached and then struck Lee in the face. As Stubblefield was walking away, Lee allegedly pulled a .40 caliber handgun and pointed it at Stubblefield.
61-year-old Charles Treadwell of Sioux Falls, South Dakota is charged with unlawful possession of a Schedule VI drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. Chief Bryant said that on June 21, an officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle, driven by Treadwell as it was leaving the fairgrounds. He initiated a traffic stop on East Main Street. During an investigation, the officer recovered over 15 grams of a green leafy substance and a used pipe with marijuana residue. Meanwhile a passenger with Treadwell, 56-year-old Matthew Moore of New Hope Road, Alexandria was also found with a schedule VI drug (marijuana) and charged in the case.
47-year-old Ronica Lockridge of Bradyville is charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Chief Bryant said that on June 15, an officer made a traffic stop on Brush Creek Highway and spoke with Lockridge. During an investigation, the officer recovered items consistent with drug use. Lockridge informed the officer that she used those items to smoke marijuana.
53-year-old Beulah Howse of Sugar Tree Knob Road, Liberty is charged with possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia. Chief Bryant said that on June 15, an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Brush Creek Highway and spoke with Howse. During the stop, the officer found a black scale with a clear crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.
65-year-old Richard Layton of McGinnis Lane, Alexandria is charged with fraudulent use of a debit card. Chief Bryant said that on June 7, police received a report that Layton had used a debit card not belonging to him on 3 separate occasions. He was taken into custody on June 23.
32-year-old Jennilee Lenker of Murfreesboro is charged with driving under the influence and child abuse or neglect. Chief Bryant said that on July 17, an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and detected a strong odor of alcohol as he approached the automobile. While speaking with the driver, Lenker, the officer noticed that she appeared to be under the influence. When she got out of the vehicle Lenker was unsteady and her speech was slurred. When asked to perform field sobriety tests, Lenker stated that she “didn’t know what that was”. While speaking with her, the officer observed a small child in the back seat. The Department of Children Services was called to the scene and Lenker was transported to the jail where a search warrant was obtained for a sample of her blood.
57-year-old Gary Britt of Holmes Creek Road, Smithville is charged with a second offense of driving on a revoked license, possession of a Schedule VI drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Chief Bryant said that on June 9, an officer initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Nashville Highway and Goose Creek Road. A background computer check of Britt’s license revealed that it was revoked for DUI and a prior driving on revoked charge. A search incident to arrest revealed a bag of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a rolled marijuana cigarette. Also located was a set of scales with marijuana residue and a white residue believed to be methamphetamine.
