A community filled with the spirit of Christmas showed up for the fun and excitement of the annual Smithville Christmas Parade and Christmas On the Square Saturday evening downtown.
The parade offered something for everyone from holiday themed floats, horseback riders and wagons, pageant royalty, the DCHS band, vintage automobiles, and of course, Santa Claus plus much more.
Mr. and Miss DeKalb County, Smithville Mayor Josh Miller and Smithville Alderman Beth Chandler served as Grand Marshals while Aaron and Thea Tippin were the parade’s honorary Grand Marshals.
Prior to the parade Smithville’s Frosty Flakes led by Bee Tubbs Trigueros performed in front of the reviewing stand while Mary Ann Puckett’s square dance teams took the stage at Evins Park.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel won first place for the best float entry. Bubba’s Auction House took second place and Whorton Springs Baptist Church captured third place. The Spirit award went to the Lady Rangers Softball Team.
The Liberty Christmas Parade is scheduled today (Sunday, December 8th) at 2 PM Line-up at 1 PM at Salem Baptist Church.
The Alexandria Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 14th at 2 PM . Line-up at 1 PM on West Main Street in Alexandria.
