73 year old Charles Richard Poston of Smithville passed away Monday at NHC of Smithville. He was a Gold-Star Grandfather of Shannon Taylor, retired sawmill operator, and a member of the Indian Creek Baptist and People Pentecostal Churches. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jimmy Gregory will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Mai Poston; parents, Campbell Richard and Alma McDaniel Poston; three children, Minnie Poss, Ernest Murphy, and William Murphy. Three grandchildren, William Michael Murphy, Shannon Taylor, and Charles Michael Blanchfield; and two sisters, Stella Frances Butler and Betty Jo Grandstaff. Survivors include five daughters, Frances and George Fincher of McMinnville, Dimple and Charles Blanchfield of Smithville, Donna and Mike Hewell of Smithville, Darlene and David Griffith of Gassaway, Denise Redmon, and William Balmas of Soddy Daisy. Sixteen grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren, two sisters, Barbara Jean Butler of Carthage and Wilma Faye Winfree and Harold of Lebanon. One brother, Bobby Lee Poston of Carthage.
