DeKalb County Fair to Give Away $5,000 Tonight (View Videos Here)

Five thousand dollars will be given away tonight (Saturday) as the DeKalb County Fair closes out its weeklong run for the year.

Mevolyn Farless and Joseph Pack each won $500 Monday night but there were no winners on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday nights. All the money scheduled to be given away on those nights will be given tonight.

Drawings for $500 each will begin at 9:30 p.m. at the Lions Club Pavilion on the fairgrounds and you must be present to win. Since this is the last night of the fair, drawings will continue until all the money is given away. Your admission ticket to the fair is your ticket for the cash drawings.

Meanwhile the schedule of entertainment today is as follows:

Saturday, July 20:
*Horseshoe Tournament: Noon at the Tot Kelly barn
*Gospel Singing: 6:00 p.m. at the Lions Club Pavilion
*Super Tractor/Truck Pull: 7:00 p.m. at the T.C. McMillen Arena
*Cash Drawing-9:30 p.m. at the Lions Club Pavilion

Take a stroll down Memory Lane and enjoy entertainment at the Memory Lane Stage in Memory Village which features replicas of Prichard’s Motors, DeKalb Telephone Cooperative, Jennings’ Barber Shop, DeKalb Community Bank, Alexandria Drug Store, Jennings Produce, Alexandria Mercantile, and DeKalb County Fair Veterans Building.

Saturday, July 20:

6:30 p.m. Mid State Cloggers Team

7:45  p.m. Sadie Faith

Rides on the Midway will be provided by Prime Time Amusement. Unlimited rides will be available for $18.00.

Admission to the fair is $5.00 per person. Children age four and younger will be admitted free! Gates open at 4:00 p.m.. The exhibit building is open from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Parking is Free!




Forty One Youngsters Featured in DeKalb Fair Toddler Show

Forty one toddlers from ages 13 to 48 months were featured Friday evening during the annual Toddler Show at the DeKalb County Fair.

First place winners received a blue ribbon. Red ribbons went to those receiving second place.
This year’s recipients are as follows:

Boys (13 to 18 months)
Winner: Thomas Blaine Bragg, the 15 month old son of Justin and Morgan Bragg of Smithville.
Runner-up: Jaxxon Cruz Taylor, the 13 month old son of Adam Taylor and Alicia Taylor of Smithville

Other participants:
Karson Collier, the 18 month old son of Kassey and Lane Davenport of Liberty; Braxton Eli Hale, 17 month old son of Andrea Cantrell and Chad Hale of Smithville; and Parker Ridge Adams, 16 month old son of Zack and Katie Adams of Smithville

Winner: Carrigan Elise Cox, 13 month old daughter of Brandon and Whitney Cox of Smithville
Runner-up: Ellie Chapman, 15 month old daughter of Josh and Taylor Chapman of Smithville.

50 year old Billie Ann Tubbs of Smithville won the 2019 Lip Sync Battle at the DeKalb County Fair Friday night beating out two other contenders for the title. Audience response determined the winner.

Tubbs lip synced to the song “Respect” by Aretha Franklin. Her performance earned her a first place trophy and $250 in cash.

Coming in second place was 9 year old Karah Jo Ford as she lip synced to Rachel Platten’s “Stand By You”. She took home $150.

17 year old Caiti Milligan of Smithville received $50 and third place for her lip sync performance of a post modern jukebox version of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside”.
