Three Involved in Monday Wreck

Three people were involved in a two vehicle accident Monday afternoon at the intersection of West Broad Street and Tiger Drive near DeKalb Middle School.

According to Smithville Police, 46 year old Mark Anthony Stannick was traveling west on Broad Street in a 2008 Chevy. 42 year old Shannon Dawn Stannick was a passenger. 41 year old Crystal Lee Mason was driving a 2013 Honda entering Broad Street from Tiger Drive

The Stannicks were taken to the hospital by DeKalb EMS with non-life threatening injuries. Mason was not hurt. The Smithville Volunteer Fire Department was also on the scene.

 




DeKalb West Announces Students of the Month

DeKalb West School wants to congratulate our Students of the Month for February. Teachers selected the following students for the honor: Asher Desimone, PreK; Gabriel Djangirov, Kindergarten, Abigail Burlingame, 1st grade, Jenna Burlingame, 2nd grade, Jace Peterson, 3rd grade, Miah Johnson, 4th grade, Izzy Hendrixson, 5th grade, Christian Hale, 6th grade, Blair Gipe, 7th grade, and Wesley Wright, 8th grade. Students are chosen for Student of the Month based on their academic record, character, and other traits that make them an outstanding student.

Tigers Advance in District Tournament with Win over Lions

The DCHS Tigers advance in the District Tournament after eliminating the Cannon County Lions 57 to 40 Tuesday night at Tennessee Tech.

The Tigers will meet the 3rd seeded Upperman Bees Wednesday night, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Cookeville High School. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.

After trailing the Lions 6 to 5 at the end of the 1st period, the Tigers grabbed a 23 to 17 halftime lead and held a 37 to 28 advantage after the 3rd period before going onto win 57 to 40.

Colter Norris scored 14, Dallas Cook 11, Nathan Atkins and Tanner Poss each with 9, Hayden Thomas 8, Dakota White 5, and Evan Jones with 1.

Meanwhile the DCHS Lady Tigers will play their first game in the tournament Wednesday, February 13 at 6 p.m. against the 7th seeded Smith County Owlettes at Cookeville High School. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.

District Tournament scores from Tuesday night, February 12:

Girls: York Institute defeated Cannon County 59 to 54

Boys: Watertown defeated Macon County 68 to 64

Boys: DeKalb County defeated Cannon County 57 to 40
