Hellen Patrecia Davis Fogelsong

Mrs. Hellen Patrecia Davis Fogelsong, age 81, of Sparta, passed away on Saturday, January 7 at Ascension St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. She was retired from Ford Motor Company.
Mrs. Fogelsong was born on May 21, 1941 in Liberty, TN to her late parents, Elijah Davis and Willie Louise Evans Miller. She was also preceded in death by her parents as well as 1 daughter, Athena Jean Wittington; 1 brother, Houston “Bob” Davis; and 5 sisters, Robbie Anderson, Leona
Owens, Jesse Slory, Mildrid Davis, and Lorine Burgess.
The family has honored her wishes of cremation.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, William Fogelsong of Sparta; 1 son, Kevin (Tonya) Fogelsong of Manchester, Michigan; 1 daughter, Lea (Jeff) Sinkler of Mancelona, Michigan; grandchildren, Sunny June Fogelsong, Kevin James Fogelsong Jr., Taylor James Samek, Alexis Whittington, Calvin Whittington, Ronald Heinz Szeve, Jade Szeve, Hollie Sinkler, Paige Widrig, Johnny McCleese; great-grandchildren, Savanna Sheeks, Lawrence Aikins, Peyton Fogelsong, Haley Fogelsong, Ronald Szeve II, and Violet Sinkler Poli; 2 sisters, Iness (Jose) DeLeon and W.T. Street both of Smithville.

Brittany Lynn Schemmer

Ms. Brittany Lynn Schemmer, age 37 of Smithville, TN passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
Ms. Schemmer was born on September 6, 1985 in Nashville, TN to her parents, Joseph Blossom & Cindy Furline Lloyd. She was a member of the Smithville Church of God & was formerly employed at Shiroki North America.
Survivors include her 5 Children, McKenzie Driggers, Elizabeth Driggers, Bethany Driggers & Devon Driggers all of Centerville, TN, & Jessamay Schemmer of Smithville, TN. Father, Joseph (Cynthia) Blossom of Smithville, TN. Mother, Cindy (Steve) Lloyd of Sparta, TN. Sister, Amanda (Michael) Peek of Dickson, TN. Brother, Eric (Misty) Sharpe of Cookeville, TN. Several Nieces & Nephews also survive.
The family has chosen direct cremation. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at the First Assembly of God in Smithville.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations please be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.

Urias LaFever

Mr. Calvin Urias LaFever, age 86 of Sparta, passed way Friday morning at Ascension St. Thomas West in Murfreesboro. He was the owner of Nashville Computer Service and a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church. He was a National Guard veteran and a member of the National Association of Accountants.
Mr. LaFever was born on July 6, 1936 to his parents, the late Verble & Lula Dunn LaFever. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie LaFever and brother, U.L. LaFever.
Funeral services for Mr. Lafever will be on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 @ 11am at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sparta, Tennessee. Sister Faye Tucker will officiate. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 10:00am until the service at 2:00pm.
Survivors include his sister, Louise (Jack) Phelps of Antioch, 2 nephews, Bobby (Christie) Phelps of Murfreesboro and Eugene LaFever of McMinnville, fiance, Merle Sandlin of Smithville, 2 great nephews, Austin & Alex Phelps of Murfreesboro and Sarah Beth LaFever of Knoxville, special family, Mary Jo Puckett of Smithvile and Ted & Jenny Sauls of Murfreesboro and special friend, Shannon Parker of Sparta.

Linda Jennie Thweatt

Mrs. Linda Jennie Thweatt, age 83 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday at Ascension Saint Thomas in Rutherford County. She attended St. Matthews Episcopal Church, was a retired school teacher and a member of FCE and retired teachers.
Mrs. Thweatt was born on September 4, 1939 in Manchester, New York to her late parents, George and Phyllis White. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Thweatt, and a grandson, Matthew Thweatt.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 am from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and burial to follow in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am. Any retired teacher is invited to be an honorary pall bearer.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Thweatt of Smithville, 1 step-daughter, Debbie (Andy) Poole of FL, 1 grandchild, Joe (Jessie) Wahlander, 2 great-grandchildren, Marley and Logan Wahlander all of Connecticut and 2 sisters also survive.

Charlie Mai Maxwell

Charlie Mai Maxwell age 88 of Smithville, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, December 30, 2022 at her residence. She was born April 25, 1934 to her parents, the late C.W. and Mary Alice Elrod Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Maxwell; 2 sisters, Marie Kortley and Ludell Smith; 3 brothers, Rex, Ralph and Fred Jones; brother-in-law, Loyd Maxwell; 2 sisters-in-law, Lois Malone and Sammie Knott; 2 nieces, Tommie Smith and Jean Taylor; 2 nephews, Larry Knott and Buzzy Maxwell. Ms. Charlie Mai was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ and attended the Phillipi Church of Christ for many years. She was a 1953 graduate of the Smithville High School. She was a businesswoman having worked alongside her husband for 20 years in the store; she worked several years in the garment factory and 26 years with the DeKalb County Highway Department. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Sammie Ray Maxwell of Smithville; brother-in-law, Robert D. Knott of Smithville; nieces and nephews; Sharon (Clay) Farler, Gary (Kathy) Malone, Diane Mayes, Phil (Peggy) Malone, Terry (Teresa) Maxwell, Trudie (Tom) Jensen, April (Greg) Mcgibben, Mary Alice (Matthew) Stanley, Jason (Andrea) Tegos, Georgia Knott and Wayne Taylor; and a host of great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:AM Tuesday, January 3, 2023 with Bro. Dan Gulley, Hilton Conger and Bro. Alvaro Earlington officiating and burial will follow in Burton-Ponder Cemetery with Bro. Graden Kirksey officiating. Visitation will be Monday 3 PM until 8 PM and Tuesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, in memory of Charlie Mai Maxwell. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond Eugene Joslyn age 81 passed away December 30, 2022 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born December 10, 1941 in Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents Chuck and Betty Walker; wife of 55 years, Shirley Joslyn; daughter, Ann Cantrell; grandson, Jacob Cantrell; brother, Larry Joslyn. Mr. Joslyn served in the United States Army, was a member of Temple Baptist Church, and worked at Star Manufacturing. He is survived by daughter, Alice (Paul) Hutchens of Smithville, son-in-law, Ricky Cantrell of Smithville; grandchildren, Ashley (Raymond) Lippart, Andrew Hutchens, Tiffany (Bobby) Price, Bridget (Rainy) Howell, Matthew Cantrell, Hayle (Anthony) Cantrell and Jade Cantrell; great-grandchildren, Raymond Lippart IV, Haven Howell, Rainy Howell, Jr., Quinley Price, Raleigh Cantrell, and Alexander Mofield. Funeral service with Military Honors will be held Monday January 2, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Shannon Cantrell officiating and burial to follow in Dekalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday January 2, 2023 10:00AM until the time of the service at 2:00 P.M. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
