Ms. Josephine Cantrell, age 93 of Nolensville, TN and a DeKalb County native passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at St Thomas Hospital West in Nashville.
Josephine was born on May 21, 1927 in Smithville, TN to her parents, the late Clarence & Vernie Bates Johnson. Also preceding her in death is her husband, Clyde Cantrell and 2 sons, Larry Cantrell & Bruce Cantrell. Siblings, Lois Tatrow & John Johnson. She was a Homemaker, a Caregiver and she was a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 2pm from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Nick Moran will officiate and burial will follow at Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, December 27th from 12 noon until the service time at 2pm. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. The family asks that everyone attending please wear a face mask and social distance themselves in the chapel. We are not accepting food at this time in the kitchen facilities.
Survivors include a Son, Gary (Rose) Cantrell of St. Charles, MO. Grandchildren, Heather (Brandon) Thompson, Brett Cantrell, Samuel (Emily) Cantrell, Bryant Cantrell, Casey (Caleb) Carter and Amy Duren. Tiffany (Kelly) Johns, Bruce Cantrell, Angela Moore and their Mother, Darlene Cantrell. Great Grandchildren, Griffin, Gram & Gema Cantrell, Mckenley Cantrell, Wyatt & Levi Thompson, Ronald, Hope & Lee Johns, Destiny & Issac Pack. Sister, Helen Poss of Mont Eagle, TN
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Snow Hill Baptist Church in Smithville, TN or Life Community Church in Nolensville, TN in memory of Ms. Cantrell.

Haston Auston Waggoner

Mr. Haston Auston Waggoner age 76 passed away Tuesday December 22, 2020 at his residence. He was born September 14, 1944 to his parents, the late Haston and Mable Pedigo Waggoner. He was a farmer, nurseryman and was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister Kathleen Carter and infant brother Willie Isaac Waggoner. Funeral services for Mr. Haston will be held 4 PM Wednesday with Bro. Terry Arnold officiating and burial to follow in the Minnear Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday 3 PM until the time of the service at 4 PM. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. Our pews are marked off to respect these guidelines and allow 100-125 people for the service. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. Survivors include: Brother: Cecil Harvey Waggoner of Smithville; 2 Sisters: Mary Young and Carolyn Thomas both of Smithville; Special friend: Tonya Keaton; several nieces and nephews also survive. Roy Nelson Pugh

Roy Nelson Pugh age 69 of Auburntown, passed away Monday morning December 21, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born in Woodbury to his parents, Jenelle Pedigo and the late Harold Pugh. Roy was a member of the Prosperity Baptist Church, the Cannon County Walking Horse Association, he served on the DTC Board of Directors for 34 years and was currently President of the board. He worked in banking for 47 years, having worked at Bank of Commerce for 23 yrs and Liberty State Bank for 24 years. Roy’s hobby and passion was farming and he was an avid shopper and not a seller. He loved life, whether it was camping, Nascar races, riding horses and especially supporting his DCHS Tigers and Tigerettes. Roy Pugh gave his life to serving and helping people, because he loved people and in return people loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kathy Pugh of Auburntown; daughter, Beth (W.C.) Basham of Lascassas; daughter, Jennifer (Nick) Tucker of Atlanta; mother, Jenelle Pugh of Dowelltown; brother, Joe (Mary) Pugh of McMinnville; grandchildren, Stone Basham, Katie, Carter and James Hancock, Jackson, Elizabeth and Emma Rose Tucker; several nieces and nephews and a world of friends. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM until 7 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. There will not be any visitation for the public on Wednesday. There will be a private funeral held. A public graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday at Sycamore Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 and social distancing guidelines, everyone attending the visitation or graveside service is asked to wear a mask for the health and safety of everyone and practice social distancing. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Sycamore Cemetery or to any DeKalb County High School Sport, in memory of Roy. William Michael Jones

Mr. William Michael Jones, age 65 of Smithville, TN passed away Tuesday morning, December 22, 2020 at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville.
Michael was born on February 14, 1955 in Lebanon, TN to his mother, Sally Maynard Jones & his father, the late Troy Jones, Jr. He worked for Omega USA as a Sewing Machine Mechanic and was a member of Spring Street The Baptist Church.
Michaels wishes were that he be cremated. No services are planned at this time.
Survivors include his Wife, Jackie Sue Vaughn Jones of Smithville, TN. Sons, Kevin (Deana) Jones of Smithville, TN & Jason Jones (Candace Hollis) of McMinnville, TN. Grandchildren, Ben Jones, James Tramel, Asa & Asher Jones, Brayden Hollis, Kailey Jones & Issac Magouirk. Sister, Cindy Drake of Liberty, TN. Nephew, Troy West.

Eddie Lawrence

Mr. Eddie Lawrence, age 88, of Alexandria, TN, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020.
Mr. Lawrence was born June 22, 1932 in Sykes, TN, a son of the late Millard S. Lawrence and Lula Kyle Lawrence. He married Loni Faye Parkerson Lawrence on December 23, 1960 and she preceded him in death in January of 2004 after 44 years of marriage union that produced four children. He was also preceded in death by second wife, Mary E. Lawrence. Eddie was a 1950 graduate of Gordonsville High School. He worked for 32 years at DTC until his retirement. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Lawrence was an avid farmer.
Mr. Lawrence is survived by four children; Pam (Joe) Lipari of Flower Mound, TX, Donna (David) Phillips of Alexandria, TN, Jerry Lawrence of Alexandria, TN, and Charlie (Tracy) Lawrence of Alexandria, TN. Grandchildren; Kristen Lawrence, Emily Lipari, J.P. Lipari, Caitlyn Lawrence, and Rebecca Lawrence. Wife; Lucy Lawrence.
Funeral Services for Mr. Lawrence are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 1PM at Avant Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be at Avant Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2PM until 7PM and on Wednesday after 11AM until service time at 1PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the New Hope Cemetery, Northside Fund.
Mr. Athol Kay Foster

Mr. Athol Kay Foster age 86 of Lewisburg, TN and Dekalb County native passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Maury Regional Medical Center.
Kay, as he was better known, was born January 7, 1934 in DeKalb County, TN to his parents, the late Athol J. & Cleo Vandagriff Foster. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Julia Foster. Kay was retired from the United States Army as an MP and was a helicopter pilot. He entered the Army in 1954 and served for over 20 years. During his service time he was in Vietnam and was a highly decorated war hero. After he retired from the Army, he went to work at the United States Post office until the mid 1990’s. Kay was a member of the Riggs Church of Christ in Chapel Hill, TN.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 1pm at Smithville Town Cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery just prior to the services at 1pm.
Survivors include a Daughter, Monie Foster Cyr of Nevada & a Son, Garry Foster of Nevada. 2 Sisters, Sammie Foster George of College Grove, TN & Sue Foster Smiley of Dickson, TN. Several Nieces & Nephews also survive.
