Mr. A.C. Johnson of Smithville, TN passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at his residence.
He was a former funeral director at Hillcrest Funeral Home and a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church.
Mr. Johnson was born December 8, 1940 to the late John and Nora Fuson Johson. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Maxine Maynard Johnson; 4 sisters, Lorene Hale, Barbara Keaton, Christine Tramel, and Mary Jane Johnson; 2 brothers, infant Charlie Johnson and Virgil Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 11am from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 2-8pm & on Wednesday, from 9am until the service time at 11am. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are also not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth Judkins Johnson; 2 daughters, Pam Johnson and Angie Johnson Anderson both of Smithville; 1 Sister, Violet Pack of Smithville; Special friend, Joyce Boyd; Special nephew, Jeff and Courtney Maynard of Clarksville; Special great nephew and niece, Logan and Emmy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children Hospital.
Judy Ann Griffin Merriman

Mrs. Judy Ann Merriman of Smithville, TN passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God.
Mrs. Merriman was born in Smithville, Tennessee to her parents, the late Martin Ross and Izena Young Griffin. Also preceding her in death was one brother, James Ross Griffin.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 2pm from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 2-6pm & on Wednesday, from 9am until the service time at 2pm. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are also not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Merriman of Smithville; 2 Sons, Jake and his wife Joyce Merriman and Steve Merriman all of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Hailee Merriman, Austin Merriman, AnnaBelle Merriman, and Haverly “Izzy” Merriman all of Smithville; sister-in-law; Sandy Willingham of Smithville; brother-in-law, Mitchell Merriman of Smithville; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.

Mary Ann Simms Goodwin(Ann) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 25, 2020. She was born to William James Simms and Zettie Florence Tittsworth Simms on August 8 1932; preceeded in death by husband of 67 years, Joe Goodwin. Survived by six children – Ronnie (Deborah), Beth (Tom) Newkirk, Bill, Joey (Kathy), Pam (Gary) Green, and Jill (Doug) Omer. Nine grandchildren, – Scott (Amanda) Goodwin, Matt Goodwin, Tommy and Michael Newkirk, Grant (Taylor) Goodwin, Katelyn Goodwin, Wesley (Melissa) Young, Olivia and Hope Omer. Eight great-grandchildren – Cooper and Kiptyn Goodwin, Jordan, Wyatt and Kaitlin Newkirk, Wyatt and Lanie Young, and Charlotte Rose Goodwin. Sister – Sallye (Jim) Sykes and brother – Fred (Pat) Simms. Numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend and caregiver, Janet Greer. A private family graveside service was officiated by Brother Terry Little with internment at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Love Cantrell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Charlotte M. Johnson age 55 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday afternoon at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born May 30, 1965. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Sue and James Bedford Knight; two brothers Joe Glenn Knight and James Phillip Knight; sister- in-law, Ledia Nokes. She is survived by one son, Bobby Johnson of Smithville, TN; sister, Frances (Lee) Watts and 2 brothers, Zolly Knight and Albert Knight; 2 daughters by heart and choice, Sandra Knight and Sue Knight; 1 granddaughter, Maria Johnson and grandchildren by heart and choice, Navaya, Anna, Romeo, Katelyn Knight and Chris Gibbs; 3 great grandchildren by choice; special niece and nephew Misty Blue Willingham and Stevie Watts; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. She was a great soul that we know is now walking with her mommy, in the glory of heaven. Graveside services and interment will be 1 PM Sunday, November 29, 2020 at DeKalb Cemetery. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the service at 1 PM. We would like to extend our greatest appreciation to Mike at Dekalb Funeral Chapel, and to all of those that donated for her service, she’s gone from this life to live the best. Drucy Mae House Midgett age 92 of Dowelltown, passed away Friday morning, November 27, 2020 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. She was born June 1, 1928 to her parents, the late Condell and Mary Close House. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Midgett; 4 sisters, Martha Lamberson, Lorene Campbell, Evelyn Nokes and Frances Miller; 3 brothers, Fred D. House, Robert Lee House and James B. House. She was a Baptist and a retired factory worker having worked at Hartman Luggage in Lebanon. She is survived by 2 sisters, Mary Louise House and Haley House both of Dowelltown; 3 brothers, Billy (Susan) House of Dowelltown, Carter (Sue) House of Alexandria and Douglas (Dinah) House of Liberty; granddaughter, Nicky Ann; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside Services and interment will be 2 PM Saturday November 28, 2020 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Donald Owens officiating. There will not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service at 2PM. Gloria Jean Martin age 76 passed away Tuesday night November 24, 2020 at her residence. She was born March 4, 1944 to her parents, the late Jess Shelby and Eva Lera Luna Judkins. She was a retired Factory Worker, Social Worker at the School System, Homemaker & visited the Nursing Home, she was also of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy E. Martin; Grandson: Daniel Wayne Martin; 8 siblings: Hobert, John, Norval, Harry and Lewis Judkins, Earline Jeffries, Elsie Adcock, Mary Adcock. Funeral Services for Ms. Gloria will be held 3:30PM Saturday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Danny Parker officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 1 PM until the time of the service at 3:30PM. Due to COVID-19 and Social Distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The funeral home pews are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow 100-125 people for the service.
