



The Community Chorus headlined a Jamboree celebration kick-off patriotic program Thursday evening at Evins Park downtown joined by five-square dance teams, Smithville Select, DeKalb Dancin’ Delights, Center Hill Hoedown, Ragland Bottom Roundup, and Caney Fork Circle Eights led by Mary Ann Puckett.

A Franklin girl won the top Jamboree award Saturday as the best fiddler in the National Championship for Country Musician Beginners. Ella Derby won the coveted James G. “Bobo” Driver Memorial Award, named for the man who started the children’s competition during the 1980’s as part of the annual Fiddler’s Jamboree and Crafts Festival. Members of Mr. Driver’s family presented the award to Derby.

Family members of the late James G. “Bobo” Driver presented the Beginner Fiddling Championship Award to the 2024 winner Ella Derby of Franklin. The award is named in memory of Mr. Driver who started the children’s competition at the Fiddlers Jamboree some 40 years ago.

Callie Doerfel of Murfreesboro was winner of the Nolan Turner Memorial Entertainer of the Year award. The honor is presented to the best overall instrumental entertainer among winners in the dobro guitar, mandolin, five string banjo, and flat top guitar competition. Turner, who died in October 2017, was a long time Fiddlers’ Jamboree supporter and photographer. Doerfel earned first place in the five string banjo competition and she took second place in both flat top guitar and dobro guitar. Doerfel was also a second place winner in the beginner duck dancing and clogging contests.

Tyler Andal’s big weekend! The Nashville fiddler (pictured left) took home a total of seven awards from the 53rd annual Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree and Crafts Festival including the biggest prize, the Berry C. Williams Memorial for claiming the Grand Champion Fiddling Title.

Bluegrass Female Supergroup “Sister Sadie” entertained at the Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree Saturday evening and was presented the festival’s “Blue Blaze Award” by members of the Jamboree Committee

The 26th Annual Fiddler 5K and One Mile Fun Run Saturday featured 276 runners. Funds raised will support Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County.

A Brentwood teen repeated as the overall winner of the Fiddler 5K and One Mile Fun Run . For the 26th annual Fiddler 5K, 17-year-old Callahan Fielder ran the course in 16:43. His time last year was 16:16 seconds.

13 year old Camryn Maynor of Baxter was the overall female winner of the Fiddler 5K and One Mile Fun Run Saturday with a time of 21:14. She came in 12th overall.
